A Must See for Kids in Today's Generation

I have not watched "Band of Brothers" in the boxed DVD set, but I have seen it in its entirety on the History Channel. I honestly believe that kids who are growing up today should see this movie to understand what their grandfathers and great-grandfathers suffered through in WWII. It really doesn't matter where they fought or what branch of the service they served in. These men put aside their concerns and fears when their nation called them and did a gruesome and dirty job because it had to be done. Tens of thousands lost their lives and many more lost limbs and their sanity because of what they experienced. With the war in Iraq and Afghanistan raging on today, I believe that it is necessary to show young people that there are things worth dying for. Popular culture and the media constantly tell kids that nothing is worth the sacrifice their lives. Wars are dirty and we should stay out of them. The WWII generation knew that they had to take action to stop the craziness of Hitler and Tojo to and did not expect somebody else to fight that war for them. They knew the risks and went anyway.

    Band of Brothers

OMG! I couldn't tear myself away from this program. I know that Speilberg and Hanks received rave reviews for 'Saving Private Ryan' but this was sooo much better. I felt like I was a part of this, like I knew each character personally, and suffered their losses. Although this is a very violent and graphic depiction, it didn't detract from the story or the truth and history. What 'Tora, Tora, Tora' did for describing the entrance of the pacific theatre, Band of Brothers does tenfold for understanding the bravery of the men and women that lived through the European battles. I am amazed day in and day out that we have men and women willing to go into situations that are almost certain death. The courage of our military people should never be under estimated or taken for granted and this series represents the best of our nation.

    Must Watch

This selection should be required showing in every high school in this country. Very informative & well chronicled. One of the all time great stories of WWII. Graphic war scenes are not for small children. I suggest reading the book on which this is based for additional info

I watched this Series Once a Month while deployed

This series got me through a year long deployment. I was on the convoy team in Iraq. My team and I would watch episodes when we spent the night at a base on a portable dvd player. It put in perspective everything we were going through. I watched the whole series 13 times in 12 months. It should be required viewing for all military. It gives me pride in my service and makes me strive to be the best soldier I can be! Awesome.

"A Brutal Unvarnished Portrait of Men in War"

In the footsteps of "Saving Private Ryan", the latest from Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks is quite possibly the most jarring realistic look at war ever filmed short of a actual documentary footage. War is neither glorified nor condemned, it is simply just is. The men who wage it are not built up as simplified heroes and villains. All of their actions, both heroic and savage, are revealed in the harsh light of impartiality. It is not to entertain us with explosions and gun play. It's aim is to shock us, horrify us, move us, and above all, tell us the story of "Easy" Company as honest and accurate as possible.

"Band of Brothers" is without a doubt a triumph on every conceivable level. From acting to directing to cinematography to scripting, it is a awesome, engrossing, and captivating saga. This has too be the new benchmark that all war epics should be judged by.

    I Also Recommend:

    Uncut and fabulous

HBO's true tale of Band of Brothers reveals the lives of men, brought together by the ugliness of war. Friendships, failings, weaknesses, tears, and horrors aren't glorified. They're shown as is, to where I hated some characters for their weaknesses, hated others for their over done heroics and thirst for power and glory, and felt for the men that were just that, men that were human and performing the greatest glory of all, a service to their country. The cut-ins at the begining of each disc from the original men that this story revolves around and the pain and humor that still affects them after 60+ years, is touching and reveals a depth that will soon be lost to the younger generation.

I'm a big fan of WWII movies and Band of Brothers is a cinematic beauty in both filming and history that bears watching again and again.

    I Also Recommend:

Gives a true representation of the infantry's "last 100 yards".

Perhaps the best representation of the horror of combat. Shows true relationships of the men with each other and their officers above them. Was the most realistic portrayal of men in war I have seen.

    Amazing!!!!

This series was one of the best mini-series I have ever seen! It really shows the struggles that Easy Company went through both with the enemy and with each other. It takes you from the drop on D-day all the way to The Eagle's Nest. I would recommend this series to WWII fanatics, historians, anyone in the military, and military buffs! Its also good for someone who needs to learn about it for school or something like that!

    A reviewer

This series shows the unparalleled bravery of the men of Easy Company. I saw this when it was on HBO and was blown away. There is no other war film of this caliber.Period. This should be mandatory veiwingfor history class in schools!!!

    Greatest minisereies ever!

Band of Brother is the true story of the men of Easy Company. They go from D-Day to Holland(Opration Market Garden) to Bastogne to the surrender of the Nazi's. The acting is tremendous! It is the most realistic WW11 story ever.

This is my all time favorite Movie/ Series ever

This is my favorite movie ever. I recommend this movie for anyone interested in WWII or just military in general. Major Richard Winters should have earned the Metal of Honor for his deeds on D-Day. He instead recieved the distinguised service cross.
