Overview

NBC's anthology series The Barbara Stanwyck Show lasted exactly one season, from September 1960 through September 1961; its titular star needs little to no introduction. Each week offered an original 30-minute teleplay, with a remarkable litany of celebrity guests turning up over the course of a year in supporting roles, including Joan Blondell, Lawrence Tierney, Robert Culp, Peter Falk and numerous others. All but four of the program's playlets starred Stanwyck; the remaining four were pilots for various series that never got off the ground. This collection features eleven of the Stanwyck-headlined playlets from the program, including "The Golden Acres," "Yanqui Go Home," "Little Big Mouth" and "Assassin," plus one of the four in which the eponymous actress didn't appear, the Andy Devine-starrer "Big Jake."
