It's Barbra..What Else Is There To Say?

There is no sound as luscious as Barbra's voice. There is no song that does not vibrate and linger as Barbra's voice. There is drama as she sings the words with their meaning and careeses the notes with tenderness and heart. My only criticism is that the dialogue did not enhanvce the beauty of the singing.

    I Also Recommend:

Too Much of a Good Thing?

There is no denying the angelic voice of Miss Streisand, but there is something to be said about "too much of a good thing". Her voice is crisp and clear. She looks radiant for her age and everything is nearly flawless, but to a fault. She has had more "goodbye concerts" than anyone I can recall. My complaints could be construed as compliments. (Not necessarily a bad thing for her legions of fans.) For instance: Her jokes are too rehearsed, her speeches seem less sincere and she has obviously turned from singing sensation to actress belting out a tune in front of the camera rather than a gracious songstress performing for the audience, as in the good old days. Do not get me wrong. Streisand has a delightful, engaging stage presence, but I much rather listen to her sing than watch her try too hard to be warm and tender or hip and funny. Her first concert on DVD recorded live from Central Park is by far her best. She was so young and fresh then and not appearing to be caught up into perfectionism. Sorry Barbra, you try too darn hard in my estimation. I would highly recommend this DVD, but long for her earlier work when she was lesser known and lived her politics by example opposed to preaching about these passions better served through discussion in a television interview than in monologue format hundreds unknowingly pay top dollar to be "forced" to hear. I share her politics, by the way, but refuse to wear them on my sleeve the way she now seems accustomed. I want to be entertained. To escape through her wonderful music, not spoken down to would be my ideal Streisand venue. I prefer not to think, but rather sit back and enjoy this amazing artist. Personally, her best efforts are seen and heard through the movie and soundtrack by the very same name "Yentl". What astonishing artistry! Five out of five stars for "Yentl" and Streisand's outstanding acting and singing! Look for these over her concert collection...

STUNNING!!!!! A thrill to see again

I saw the concert live in 2006 in Columbus, OH and it is a thrill to have a rememberance of it with this DVD. It was a magical night and Barbra Streisand is still at the top of her game. Her voice is beyond butter in person and she was warm and funny with the audience all evening. The extra discs are wonderful too!! A great package!!!!

    Fabulous

I had the wonderful opportunity to see Barbra in her 2006 concert in Chicago and every time I watch the show, I am taken back to that enchanting night! The excitement, the sounds, the feeling of the audience, the orchestra, the smiles and emotions.......it's all there!!!
    ENJOY!!!!

Love her or hate her, Babs STILL delivers the goods!

After having seen 'The Concert" in 1994, watching the TV special, buying the CD, the DVD, as well as viewing the 2000 concert and buying all that went with it, I thought Barbra Streisand had nothing else to offer in concert. I thought I had heard it all. So when I read of the very expensive NEW concert tour, I had to pass. I even hesitated at the CD. But I was amazed. Not only does she sing the expected "Hits" (Evergreen, People etc) but she has returned to songs her audiences have loved, and not heard in decades. So I had to do the DVD as well. And while at 60-something her voice is not quite as chrystal clear as in days gone by, she still delivers with spine chilling vocal skill what few ever achieve much less maintain throughout such a long and fruitful career. It is as stirring to watch as the CD is to listen to. A MUST for Barbra fans.

    Amazing - as always!

I had a ticket for this concert tour but, unfortunately was in the hospital. Thanks to this DVD, I got to see this great performance. To me she is the greatest female performer of all time. This is a must for any Streisand fan. Buy and enjoy.
