The origins of the Caped Crusader of Gotham City are finally brought to the big screen in this new adaptation of the perennially popular comic-book series. The young Bruce Wayne (Gus Lewis) leads a privileged life as the son of wealthy, philanthropist parents, both of whom stress their commitment to improving the lives of the citizens of crime-ridden Gotham City. After his mother and father are murdered by a mugger, however, Wayne grows into an impudent young man (Christian Bale), full of rage and bent on retribution until encouraged by his childhood sweetheart, Rachel Dawes (Katie Holmes), to search for answers beyond his own personal vendettas. Wayne eventually finds discipline in the Far East under the tutelage of Henri Ducard (Liam Neeson), a member of the mysterious League of Shadows who guides him in the study of martial arts -- and the ways in which an ordinary man can hone his senses to an almost superhuman acuity. After seven years away from Gotham, Wayne returns, determined to bring peace and safety back to the city. With the help of his faithful manservant, Alfred Pennyworth (Michael Caine), and Lucius Fox (Morgan Freeman), a scientist at his late father's corporation, Wayne develops a secret identity as Batman, a masked fighter for justice. But when a shady psychiatrist (Cillian Murphy) joins forces with the criminal underworld, Wayne realizes that putting an end to their nefarious plans will be very difficult indeed. Batman Begins also features Gary Oldman as Lt. James Gordon and Tom Wilkinson as the crime boss Carmine Falcone.
This is the Batman movie I've been waiting for; more correctly, this is the movie I did not realize I was waiting for, because I didn't realize that more emphasis on story and character and less emphasis on high-tech action was just what was needed. The movie works dramatically in addition to being an entertainment.

Holy Reboot Batman! This is the best Batman movie ever. After the disappointed movie of Batman and Robin, Christopher Nolan did an excellent job in writing and directing this movie. Christian Bale did an excellent job performance as Batman. i love Batman and I'm a big fan of the Dark Knight.
Good script, acting, cinematography, direction--Christopher Nolan is great. Bought it as soon as it came out.
amazing movie from begining to end!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hands down the best movie of the year in my opinion. Beautiful cinematography. Great acting. Great story. This is how Batman should be done! I saw the movie four times in theatres and can't tell you how many times I've watched my DVD already and have loved every minute of it! Can't wait till 2008 for the sequel! Hopefully Nolan and Co. will outdo themselves again!
Better in comparison to the other 4 movies (2 by Tim Burton and 2 by Joel Schumacher). Action packed but also a well told story to go with it. Great supporting along with the lead Christian Bale make this one a must see for all!
I wish they had more stars because this movie deserves a 10! Bale protrayed the character of Bruce Wayne and Batman with conviction, mostly the Batman character. I loved this movie.I love the fact that the storyline is not about the Joker or the Pengiun or Catwoman but about how Bruce becomes Batman.I love the scene when Batman had the Police Officer dangling in the rain and the way that Bale protrayed Batman's hate of criminals was unbelievable. I loved Batman, and Batman Returns, but this movie tops both of them. I also loved the fact that you never see that he really uses the grapling gun to hoist himself in the air he just bolts straight up. It gaves the Batman character more of an awe experience from the criminals. A must see even if your not a Batman fan.
The key to Batman's longevity has always been his ability to strike fear in the hearts and minds of all criminals and someone finally got it right. What a great job by Christian Bale and for that matter the rest of the cast. This is the only Batman flick where "I" was afraid of Batman. Key scene- what I call the Cop Yo-Yo. The intensity on Bale's face made me a believer as I had publicly disagreed with a Brit playing the role of Batman. It's like asking an American to play James Bond, but I digress. Even friends of mine who don't like comics enjoyed this film immensely. Can't wait to see Batman go up against the Joker next time around.
Rating: 98% Although it may not live up to the Dark Knight, Batman Begins is still an exciting and unforgettable adventure filled with excellent performances and intense scenes of action.
This movie was reeeeally good. I am a total sucker for superhero movies, and this one is one of the best. I loved how they made the story of Batman believable (well, as believable as they could have) and the action scenes were great. Very much recommended.
This is absolutely the best Batman movie I've ever seen. Bale is also the finest actor to ever wear the suit. All other Batman movies pale in comparison to this version. Do yourself a favor and watch this movie.
Great movie that truly focuses on the origins of the Batman and puts the villains of the film and the romantic relationship in the back seat for once. They accomplish this by making the first villain in the film series not the arch villain of Batman (which is Joker) and it leaves enough room for future movies to work with including the characters romantic relationship. Very dark and realistic which is what the batman is all about.
I admit, when I first saw advertisements for this movie I did not want to see it. I loved Spiderman and Superman, but at Batman I drew the line. However, I went to see it with a friend and was surprised. Surprised that it was AWESOME that is! It wasn't all based on his high-tech gadjets, though there were some good ones, but on Batman himself, how he grew and how he changed. It was perfect. A great film. Perfect.
This movie is visually stunning, the actors very well chosen. Haven seen Michael Caine as Alfred he has become indispensable as Alfred. Christian Bale was fabulous as well. And the plot did not insult anyone's intelligence.
I got tired of begging my friends to go see the movie... maybe now they can see for themselves that it's awesome. Thank you Batman.
Batman Begins was completely satisfying. The film was very close to the comics, so it was satifying in that sense. The film itself was a mixture of gothic, drama, romance, intellect, action, and suspense. The acting was outstanding! Each cast member was very well chosen! Christain Bale did an excellent job as Batman. He really made you understand more about Batman and who he really is. Batman is such a mysterious character and I felt that this film really revealed to the audience who this dark hero really is. This movie cannot be compared to the older Batmans, which is something I rarely say. I'm more of the type that likes originals and not remakes...but Batman Begins proved me wrong. It's a movie I reccommend to everyone.
