Batman & Robin (Special Edition)

One of the saddest editions to a true comic legend

Well, I am a very big movie researcher and giant fan of comic book movies. When I was a little kid, my opinion of Batman and Robin was "pretty cool" now, I'm afraid to watch it now. Like many smart movie goers have deducted, Joel Shumacher was one of the worst choices to give the franchise over. But I did a bit of research on the way Warner Bros does sequels. I really don't think it was Tim Burton's choice to choose a new director. According a DVD documentary from the special edition of Superman: The Movie, Warner Bros. made Dick Donner leave as director to Superman 2 and replaced him with a horrible choice named Richard Lester. That's probably what happened. And the dark edge Burton established left forever. This and Batman Forever were given a campy underground city feeling. A common misinforming notion most people make about Directors is that they do all the story decisions all the time. Sometimes is really the case for this. Most of the time, the scriptwriter does the dirty work. Personally, I believe the writer of the script never read a batman comic or heard any of the actual mythology about the characters, henceforth Batgirl was Alfred's niece and not Commissionar Gordon's daughter like it should've been. Personally, I thought that the person to play Mr. Frieze should've been Ian McKellen after I saw the work he did as Magneto and Gandalph. Mr. McKellen would have brought subtle actions, and a cold exterior. If your a true Comics fan and movie fan, watch the movie once, and decide for yourself what you think. The point to me telling my opinion is because this a review section, I'm not one to tell you what you should do. Oh, and one more thing, Michael Keaton turned down a second Batman sequel only because Tim Burton wasn't directing.

This film is not an action film

First of all, the first three batman movies were good. WHen i first saw this film, i loved it. THen i got older and saw how bad it was. This film is not an action film, it is just a comdedy like the 60's version. THe new batman film was good because it showed how Bruce Wayne became batman.

The Worst Batman Movie Ever And One Of The Worst Film's I've Ever Seen

The Joker could't do it. The Penguin couldn't do it. Bane came close, but not even he could do it. But Joel Schumacher did the one thing these other three supervillians couldn't: kill Batman. After the Chinese water torture that was 1995's "Batman Forever", Joel Schumacher returned to direct this monstrositry. The cast is awful (Schwarzenegger probably would've been a slightly more effective and appealing as Mr. Freeze without all the horrible one liners and a better script in general), the plot is brainless and the film is horrible.

Someone killed the knight in shinning darkness...

This was one of the most worse movies ever made! What was Joel thinking? There are so many mistakes in this movie that are not accurate to the REAL Batman! 1: Batgirl was never the neice of Alfred, she was Barbera Gordon, Comissioner Gordons daughter. 2: Mr.Freeze never had an German accent, and his costume was so overrated. 3: Posion Ivy was never really a man-crazed woman, she was husly however, and pretty, but she over did it in the movie. 4: Bain never acted like a total idiot, not knowing how to talk correctly! He was actually smarter then that. 5: Goerge Cloney horribly played Batman. He didn't act dark at all, or silent. 6: Batgirl had red hair, not blonde! 7: Mr.Freeze's gun was VERY big, and his gun was never that big! 8: The lines were cheap, and sappy. It didn't have good acting at all, and Mr.Freeze never had a drooling babe by his side, and he never acted sarcastic or stupid! Please don't get this dvd. It is sappy.

Chris O'Donnell and Alicia Silverstone were the best part of this one. They played Robin and BatGirl quite well, Beyond that, this sucks

Batman, Mr. Freeze, and Poison Ivy were horribly played and obsurdly shown. The costumes for all the characters were horribly done. George Clooney was the second worste Batman, behind only Adam West
Arnold Schwarzenegger was neither the right appearance nor the personality for Freeze. This had Ivy ready to freeze the planet and kill all life. Ivy Poison Ivy is an Eco Terrorist, her action were motivated by protecting the planet.

The story with Batman and Robin finding a new partner creating a trio to fight the crimal trio of Freeze, Ivy, and Bane. that was ok This had great potential, but didn't achieve it. This was a said chapter in the Batman series .

this movie seriously is dumb and pathetic and lame this movie along with the past 3 batman movies destroyed the batman legacy forever i prefer the black and white batman movies over these first 4 films nolan brought batman/bruce wayne back to life in a seriously awesome way chris nolan is the best director in hollywood the first 4 batman films from 1989 to 1997 all those movies are dumb pathetic and lame!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and of course boring!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this Batman outing is good because of George Clooney. His Batman/Bruce Wayne Character study is superb!

The Horrible Batman Movie

This movie just stinks. The costumes are pathetic in this movie. Especially Mr.Freezes costume. He looks like somebody else. Robin signal looks dumb. Gearge Clooney is a horrible Batman. When was Batgirl ever Alfred's niece. The special effects were okay. Don't buy it, if you want see this movie rent it.

Joel Schumacher should've stayed!

In my oppinion, his two variations of the Batman franchise were the best yet! It lightened up the series with a bright, colorful environment and created unique interpretations of the heroes and villains.

It seems to me batman movies have only gotten better! I loved the new characters they added this time. (Poison Ivy was awesome!) If I could only pick one to own it's this one. I loved it!!!

Terrible and Sad

As a fan of Batman it was painful to watch this sad spectacle of a movie. Joel Schumacher is the worst director in Hollywood and I will never understand why Tim Burton let Joel anywhere near the Batman franchise--Tim Burtons Batman films were far from perfect (he cant cast a film to save his life, Micheal Keaton isnt Batman and Jack Nicholson was too short and fat to be the Joker--at least he got Michelle Pfeiffer to be Catwoman and Danny Devito was perfect as the Penguin). What really hurts about the forth installment is that Poison Ivy and Batgirl have always been favorite characters of mine (Poison Ivy should have been portrayed by Angelina Jolie and Ashley Judd should have been Batgirl--who by the way was Commissioner Gordons Daughter not Alfreds neice and she had red hair not blond. Everything is wrong with Batman and Robin--bad script, bad acting, bad directing, no thrills, and worst of all Arnold Swartzenegger--Patric Stewart would have been the perfect Mr Freeze. Its sad when the animated series is far superior to the big budget movies. Dont waste your time with this one...........

THIS... MOVIE NEARLY DESTROYED BATMAN!

First off, this is not Batman. Batman is a dark avenger of evil who is on the verge of insanity in his war to obliterate crime. Not a happy, carefree guy who seems to do all this for fun. The acting: The only good actor here is Michael Gough (Alfred). 1/10, The Plot: one word: juvenile.1/10 Music: An unholy companion to the first 2 (and only ones in my opinion) Bat-films scored perfectly by Danny Elfman.1/10 Dialogue: Every other sentence was a very corny line that infuriated and soiled my mind. 1/10 Special Effects: Ok. these were all right, but they compare as nothing to The Matrix or Lord of the Rings. 3/10 Thing that got on my nerves most: The character of Bane: In the comics, he was the dude who almost killed Batman. He snapped Batman's spine like a wishbone. He was a smart, strategic hitman, very intelligent, and very strong. In the...movie? A lumbering retard that just says his lines the best of the other actors (saying over and over again-''bomb...bomb...BOOM!'' and so on) and is reduced to the idiot henchmen that he is not. You know what happened to this...movie? The actor who played Bane died one week after it came out. Also, Batman creator Bob Kane (God bless his soul) died a year later a little after the movie came out on vhs and dvd. That shows how much this movie is an insult to Batman and is strictly Batman by the name in the title. Joel Shumacher (sorry if it's spelled wrong) tried to make this movie in the tradition of the cheesy but ultra-hip 60's Batman tv show--and came out with results that made the show a dark and grim thing to behold in comparison. Don't even buy this if u collect Batman stuff. You'll thank me for it. Thanks for your time.

best batman

Batman and Robin was so great.Especially DR.Freeze and Poison Ivy.I just loved the way Ivy and Freeze turned into bad guys.And Poison Ivy looked GREAT.And batgirl was so cool!I hope they make another batman real soon!!

The worst batman

This is the worst batman. It was way to bubblely with Alica Silverstone (bad batgirl). And George Clooney is the worst Batman, he did not pull off batman's personality at all, batman is supposed to be dark and mystrious not light and carefree. And the movie had way too many puns and corny jokes, it seems like it targeted younger boys, and really doesn't appeal to older fans like the past batman movies, hello not only 10 year old boys watch batman (I am a proud 15 yr old female batman fan). And i just basicilly thought it was too commerialized and too much like any other movie (unlike the past ones). Although i didn't really like it, it was ok because it was a batman movie, and i like all batman things.I recommand you watch the other batman movies instead.

Bad, except for Alicia Silverstone

I didnt expect much from this movie, so I wasn't too dissapointed. The story was bad, as was most of the acting. The only thing I really liked about this film, was that Alicia Siverstone, as Batgirl, was in it. Although she did not have a very large part in the film, she made it much more enjoyable to watch. Alicia has consistently turned good movies into great movies, ok movies into good movies, and as in Batman and Robin, bad movies into ok movies.

Joel Schumacher made a masterpiece

this movie is really great... George Clooney made a great batman and Chris O'Donnell made Robin a funny character especially when he said chicks dig the car. Arnold did a great job for Mr. Freeze and Uma Thurman did a good Poison Ivy. but all of those can't hold a candle to the great JEEP SWENSON!!. he played Bane and he just said bomb bomb bomb and he did a good job of that..he was definately the best in the film. i also loved the bat credit card and mr. freeze's ice puns. anyways one of the best movies ever made and i recommend it for everyone. i hope Joel Schumacher continues with more Batman movies. may the batman movie franchise move on forever!

The is the worst film from the ''Batman'' films after ''Batman returns''!

After the defeat of the Ridler, Batman and Robin has a new mission: Defeat mr. Freeze, Poison Ivy, and Bain! Guest star: The amazing Batgirl!!! Now this just sounded like a cartoon from the 60s right? Well, this is preety much how the film is. It certainly is more enjoyable for small ages, but it's not too bad either. Three stars= Okay, and that's what this film is. Cool outfits, cool sequences... but that's all. Don't expect anything else. And it also kinda silly 'cause, as I said before, this film is for small ages, though there are some dirty meanings in the movie. Anyway, kids that are 8 years old and lower are gonna find this a masterpiece. And because you might get confused with this film compared to all the rest from the series, here is a list starting from 1( best) to 4( worst): 1. Batman 2. Batman forever 3. Batman and Robin 4. Batman returns

''This Movie Was SUB-ZERO''

I am a big fan on batman movies but when it comes to ''Batman And Robin'' well, i would rather see the same batman cartoon over and over and over again. I think most of the cast was bad. Uma Thurman was good for Poisen Ivy. Arnold S. for Mr. Freeze, mmmmm I don't think so. He's more of the great muscle dude kind of guy to me. Alicia Silverstone, C'MON! You might as well get Y'vonne Craig! Chris Odonnel was alright for the role as Robin. Now George Clooney, don't even get me started. I like him as an actor really i do, but not as Batman. I think that Michael Gough did a goodjob staying with all four movies. He is the best Alfred you can get. I think the only people that were in all four movies were Alfred and Comissioner Gordon. And the last thing i'll comment on is........ WHY DIDN'T THEY HAVE BATGIRL AS COMISIONER GORDON'S DAUGHTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't even waste your time!

When I went to see Batman & Robin, I had hoped that it would be better that the first 3 films. When I walked out, I was really disappointed. This film is the worst of all the batman films and one of the worst films of all time. Arnold Schwarzenegger was a horrible choice to play Mr. Freeze and George Clooney takes away the dark personality that Batman once had. Of the five actors and actresses that played Batman, Robin, Batgirl, Poison Ivy, and Mr. Freeze; Chris O'Donnel(Robin) is the only one that does a remotely good job. Michael Keaton made a good choice when he bailed on the Batman franchise, the last two were horrible. Only 2 people who acted in the film deserve an applause: Michael Gough and Pat Hingle. Joel Schumacher completely destroyed what Tim Burton had set up. If people even think about making a another Batman film, they should get new people to play the returning characters(except the people who play Alfred and Comissioner Gorden). They should try to get Tim Burton back but if that doesn't work, they should find someone else. Anybody but Joel Schumacher would do a better job than the way he directed the film. Fans of the Batman films will probably be very disappointed in this horrible sequel to the megahit film that all of us love. As advice, don't even waste your time watching this movie that will take 2 hours out of your life that you will never get back.
