Batman: The Movie

Overview

To many fans of the Caped Crusader, the Batman television series and this spin-off theatrical feature are superior to the somewhat overblown features that Tim Burton kicked off in 1989. Thankfully, this excellent 20th Century Fox DVD release of the 1966 Batman theatrical feature is perfectly tailored to fans of the ultra mod TV show. The DVD is dubbed the "Holy Special Edition, Batman!" and features a sparkling anamorphic widescreen transfer. Viewers can choose between a Dolby Digital 2.0 Mono or Stereo mix of ...

Viewers can choose between a Dolby Digital 2.0 Mono or Stereo mix of the soundtrack. To be honest, there doesn't seem to be much discernible difference between the sound quality of the two audio mixes, but at least neither sounds bad. An audio commentary courtesy of stars Adam West and Burt Ward is wonderful, as is a better-than-average "making of" featurette. Full of humorous anecdotes and good cheer, the commentaries of Ward and the decidedly eccentric West can actually be revisited more than once -- and they are often more entertaining than the movie itself. If that weren't enough, the DVD also features a short documentary on the Batmobile, photo galleries, and genuinely funny theatrical trailers. While the Batman feature film itself isn't equal to the beloved 1960s TV series that spawned it, fans will still cherish this excellent DVD release.

Some days, you just can't get rid of a bomb!

Batman, Batman, Batman! Oh man, this movie was HILARIOUS. It's one of those movies that are so stupid, and so bad that they're actually GOOD.

I used to watch the re-runs of the tv series when I was a kid in the 80s. It was so bad, but my sister and I didn't care. It was Batman and Robin, on the tv screen, kicking butt and taking names!

The plot is actually great, and the situation serious (although not TOO serious--after all, it's the 60s Batman). The special effects aren't bad for its time, especially the laser gun on the Batboat. The rubber shark was hilariously bad, though. (Seems like each incarnation of Batman fights with a shark at least once. )

The fights are also pretty decent, especially the final battle-- better than the Batamn tv series, actually. And the way Bruce constantly outwits Joker, Ridddler, Catwoman and Pengiun just proves once again that even this version of Batman can always win when he has time to plan.

And of course, the bomb scene. That is, without a doubt, the best few moments in the entire movie. Batman running around with a bomb, not able to find a place to dump it, and the fuse that's taking forever to run out makes for one of the most hilarious movie scenes ever.

Some days, you just cna't get rid of a bomb. And some days, you just can't help laughing your butt off at this so-bad-it's-good flick.

    TO THE BATCAVE!

Batman: The Movie is one of the most funniest movie ever. I grew up as a 5 year old watching the television series when it premiered on January 1966 on ABC and I never missed any episodes from 1966-1968. I did not watch the movie when it came out, but I did watched it when it was on ABC Sunday Night Movie. That's why I became a huge Batman fan. I just bought the Batman Complete Television Series box set on DVD. It is fully remastered and the picture looks better and clearer. It was like brand new.

youll be laughing so hard you have to stop teh movie and watch the rest later.

Now when the TV show was out I thought it was so stupid! Batman had no muscles and didn¿t fight! Well fight like I thought batman should. When I got older I bought this to just add to my collection and figured id try again...and I could not stop laughing! Didn¿t understand why more people are not talking about how funny this is! FUNNIEST MOVIE EVER!!!

I just watched this film for the first time. I am 19 and in college. This movie was completely amazing. We came to the conclusion that its really not a movie about Batman, but a film about insane people who think they are either super heroes or super villians. The memorable quotes in the movie are endless and the absurd answers to the riddles will have you on the floor in tears especially with how they totally except the theories and how they are right about them! I'm so buying the dvd!!!
