DVD A spin-off of HE-MAN AND THE MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE, the 1980s cartoon series SHE-RA: PRINCESS OF POWER fashioned a girl-power version of its parent show's hallmark brand ... of action-fantasy. Vibrantly animated and creatively told, the series followed the mythical adventures of He-Man's twin sister, Princess Adora, as she transformed into her super-heroine alter-ego, She-Ra, to defeat the villainous Evil Horde and bring peace to the kingdom of Etheria. This collection presents the full-length theatrical feature that inspired the series, THE SECRET OF THE SWORD, as well as five episodes chosen by fans as the series' best: "Of Shadows and Skulls, " "Sweet Bee's Home, " "Horde Prime Takes a Holiday, " "The Stone in the Sword, " and "The Price of Freedom. A reviewer

Watching this was such a blast. The last time I watched these shows was 20 years ago. I was way too young to know the level of animation. It was just a great adventure for me and I learned girls could have the power too. Some of the problems I had with this release was that it wasn’t re-mastered at all except for the two collective cards provided in this package and through out some of the episodes the background music and the characters voices sounded weird and far back at times. This collection includes five popular episodes of the animated classic plus a feature-length movie “The Secret of the Sword,” (which I absolutely love) was the first disc I had to pop in. This was when He-Man and She-Ra reunited at last to return home to bring the Eternian Royal Family together again and attempt to free the Kingdom of Bright Moon from Hordaks reign of the Evil Horde. Yeah it's old, corny, animation, but it was the 80's. It was great to sit around as a family and watch something that me and my husband could laugh about as we walked down memory lane and yet my daughter thought it was neat watching the warrior princess and her friends get at it but my son wasn’t feeling it as much. At the end of each episode we have one of the character (s) explaining the moral of the story which is great and missing in today’s cartoons line up. If you Love He-Man then you will love this. Highly recommend for old fans and the next generation……. “For the Honor of Grayskull!”

    She's back

I am pleased to see that they are releasing She -Ra But I wish they do the same to She -ra what they are doing to He-Man.

    Finally!

This has to be the best cartoon series of the 80s. It empowers girls, and I'm happy to say that my 2 young daughters are enjoying it as much as I did (and still am). And I have heard that they are going to release half of season 1 in November (the 7th, I think I heard). Again, this may just be rumor, but it is nice to look forward to.

I've been looking for this for years!

It's great that She-Ra has finally been released on DVD. I hope they come out with more episodes, since this set only contains 5. The quality of the episodes is fantastic. I'm also very pleased that they include The Secret of the Sword movie since it depicts She-Ra's beginning. The tv show was a positive influence for young girls in the 80's and I'd love to see it come back to be an influence again now.
