Detroit cop Axel Foley Eddie Murphy has seemingly smoothed out his differences with his Beverly Hills superior Bogomil Ronny Cox, but there's trouble ahead for both men, not to mention two other holdovers from the first Cop film, officers Rosewood Judge Reinhold and Taggart John Ashton. The "untouchable" heavy this time out is masterminding a series of violent robberies, committed by leather-freak hoods Dean Stockwell and Brigitte Nielsen. The "untouchable" heavy this time out is masterminding a series of violent robberies, committed by leather-freak hoods Dean Stockwell and Brigitte Nielsen. Unaccumstomed to this nastiness, Bogomil entreats street-smart Foley to help find the miscreants. But mean-spirited chief of police Lutz Allen Garfield will brook no interference from outsiders-especially the profanely insouciant Mr. Foley.

Editorial Reviews

All Movie Guide - Perry Seibert
Beverly Hills Cop worked because the fish-out-of-water element was made fresh by Eddie Murphy's liveliness. The comedy in the film was much more memorable than the action. The makers of Beverly Hills Cop 2 did not watch the first film enough times. Martin Brest, a quirky director, let the original film slow down enough to let Murphy have fun. By choosing Tony Scott (fresh from making Tom Cruise a star in Top Gun) to helm the sequel, the filmmakers were tipping their hand that this would be a wall-to-wall action blockbuster. While Beverly Hills Cop 2 is a competent action film, it is missing the level of energetic comedy that it promises in its association to the earlier film. Even though it was a success at the time, one can look back and see this film as the beginning of Eddie Murphy's prolonged big-screen slump.

Back Again, and this time, their up against pros.

Axel Foley (Eddie Murphy) is back again and is finally friends with his Commander Bogomil (Ronny Cox). A series of robberies are starting to occur and Commander Bogomil puts Foley on the job. An Action packed movie that doesnt deserve to be left on the shelves at stores.
