Big TroubleDirector: Barry Sonnenfeld, Tim Allen, Zooey Deschanel, Omar Epps
Barry Sonnenfeld's funny, smart and short Big Trouble never found an audience in the theaters, but it might have a longer life on home video. The DVD is a nice little package. Image quality, with a 1.85:1 anamorphic transfer, is very strong. The picture is this discs high point, with vivid colors and solid darks. Also consistent is skin tones and other natural colors. There is no sign of breakdown or pixilation. The sound, a 5.1 Dolby Digital track is nothing spectacular but certainly sufficient for this kind of film. Though the audio seems to be recorded a touch low, it still is distinct with clear dialogue. Extra provided here are rather slim. Along with a 7:30 minute version of the film (an odd inclusion, to say the least) and a couple of previews from other Touchstone films, is a commentary track from Sonnenfeld. He is generally informative on this scene-specific track, leaving no significant gaps. He makes it clear on what scenes he likes, and he likes a lot of them. This film deserves a second chance, and the DVD is a perfect vehicle for a new audience.

Any movie that has this crazy, zany, scarey, funny, strange, loud and witty genius in it, is sure to be a hit.....
Absolutely hilarious. Every performance was spot on, perfectly timed. Very fast paced, with non-stop laughs.
This is a great movie: espionage, divorce, coupling, homeless, gangsters and the CIA, without contempt for its subject. What more could you hope for when Tim Allen and company headline a film. Very underrated by "critics" but popular with people who love movies. MORE LIKE THIS!
If you like laughing out loud at movies, you have to see this one. Big Trouble is a hilarious story acted out perfectly so that it's just one yuk after another.
BIG TROUBLE had a problem facing it when it had to be pressed back due to September 11. Maybe that is why the critics gave it such a terrible backlash. Truly, though, this is a very funny movie. Based off the novel by Dave Barry, which is by far the funniest book that I have ever read, the movie stays close to the story. Sonnenfeld has a light sense of direction and the actors have fun doing what they do.
I've seen this movie in theatres. It was non-stop laughter. Definitely worth the rip off 8 dollars movies actually make you pay to get in nowadays.
Big Trouble is the funniest movie of the year. The cast was just great. You'll enjoy Jason Lee (Chasing Amy, Vanilla Sky) and Dennis Farina (Snatch, Get Shorty). Farina is hilarious as he plays yet another bad guy gone terribly funny. Tim Allen is great, along with Patrick Warburton and Jackass superstar, Johnny Knoxville. If you loved him in Jackass you'll love him as a stupid criminal in this big hit motion picture.
If you're looking for good laughs, this is there. The entire cast couldn't be better. This movie got next to nothing in advertising, and a bad release date, but is probably one of the best comedys released in recent memory.
I have pre-ordered this DVD not even having seen it, because if it's anything close to the book it will be EXCELLENT!
