Overview

As adapted from books by David Nobbs and broadcast by ITV intermittently from January through December 1989, the British comedy series A Bit of a Do followed the adventures of two Yorkshire families at different places on the socioeconomic spectrum. The Simcocks were a generally unsophisticated, working class lot; The Rodenhursts a financially comfy, middle-class clan. Yet the two groups shared attitudes of complete snobbery. They found themselves thrust together time and again at the "dos" of the title - social events including a funeral, weddings, and christenings - which naturally led to endless class-borne complications. The cast included David Thewlis, Nicola Pagett, Michael Jayston and Gwen Taylor. This set contains all 13 series episodes as they originally aired, plus extras including cast filmographies and interviews with Pagett and Nobbs.

Hilarious Entertainment. A "Bit of a Do" is great entertainment. As you watch you will be laughing-out-loud and at times you may laugh so much that you must rewind the DVD to hear what you missed while laughing. Go with the "characters" through their ordinary, everyday "adventures" and you are sure to relieve your stress just by enjoying their hi-jinks. Some of the situations you will figure out just from things that may have happened in your life or in the life of your family and friends. You can sit back and chuckle at the "characters" mishaps and be entertained by the excruciatingly awkward but uproariously funny interactions of two families and their various friends. This DVD, starring Davis Jason, Gwen Taylor, Nicola Pagett, Michael Jayston, Stephanie Cole, David Thewlis, Sarah-Jane Holm, David Reynolds, and other cast members, is sure to be a "hit" with you if you fancy British wit. ENJOY! Laugh your "head off" and reduce your stress and get a good night or day rest after you watch these DVDs. **Wish there were more of these DVDs to watch.
