Black Sunday is another intelligent thriller directed by the great John Frankenheimer. No director could put tension and suspense into a scene quite like Frankenheimer. The film was also produced by Bob Evans who was on a winning streak with Chinatown, Black Sunday and Marathon Man. The fanatastic plot is made real by the outstanding cast, lead by Robert Shaw, Fritz Weaver and Bruce Dern. Highly recommended. A great movie to watch a couple of weeks before the Super Bowl, or anytime.
A whirlwind 2 1/2 hours, BLACK SUNDAY is beyond formula. It is an intense, solid drama that holds you at every turn. Bolstered by first rate acting, veteran director John Frankenheimer gives this stout thriller an epic look. Get this to DVD by Super Bowl XXXIX.
