Is this a comeback for Blue Oyster Cult? Hardly. The band has been touring and recording for over thirty years now, and as the last two studio albums Heaven Forbid and Curse of the Hidden Mirror indicate, their creative force is just as vital as it was in the days of Don't Fear the Reaper. As good as a studio band BOC is, the live shows are what really show their enduring power. A Long Day's Night captures the band in fine form in Chicago in June 2002, with an inspired setlist. As always, Burning for You, Godzilla and Reaper are highlights, but listen too for unjustly obscure gems, particularly Perfect Water. Then, when Blue Oyster Cult comes to your town, go see them live.
