Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble - Donald Liebenson
Elton John helps Bob build some Christmas excitement in this 50-minute holiday episode from Nickelodeon's sturdy preschool series. It's beginning to look like a "perfect Christmas" for Bob. His twin brother is visiting from the North Pole, Lennie and the Lazers are in town for a concert, and even naughty scarecrow Spud wants to get on Santa's "nice" list. From delivering the town Christmas tree to building a stage and hanging the decorations, the new mayor has plenty to keep Bob, Wendy, and their crew of machines busy. But Tom must cancel his visit after missing his boat, the town hall gets damaged, and Lennie loses his voice. Can Bob's Christmas be salvaged? Yes, it can, thanks to resourceful Wendy, cooperation amongst the machines, and John -- the Lazers' songwriter -- who overcomes writer's block in time to nail a rollicking rendition of "Crocodile Rock." In addition to the usual construction comedy, there are also touching memories of Bob and Tom as children to give this program some welcome warmth.
