Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble
Staying just barely on the side of hard rock during the 1980s rock vs. metal wars, Jon Bon Jovi and company have of late become that crucial VH1 emblem: a band of survivors. They prove, with the new Crush album, that they're truly a unit that can stay afloat when all around are succumbing to infighting, creative implosions, or slickness. This program catches these New Jersey cats at a pivotal date in Switzerland in the summer of 2000, proving again and again how -- like lead -- they are an important, rootsy element in rock music. While the boys may be older and wiser, the rock is still tough and sinewy. Plowing their way through all phases of their sonic legacy, from their fan's standards ("Livin' On a Prayer," "Bad Medicine") to the rambling into other genres ("Wanted Dead or Alive") to their current platinum smash "It's my Life", their back-to-basics approach shows why they're still the standard bearers for MOR rock.

I WAS SOMEWHAT DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS PRODUCTION.

THIS WAS NOT REALLY ONE OF THEIR BETTER OFFERINGS. IT WAS GOOD, BUT NOT OUTSTANDING.

    ROCK STARS FOR ALL AGES

I am 63 and went to my very first rock concert on Tuesday March 4, 2003. My daughter and I went to celebrate her brother's and my son's birthday which is on St. Patrick's day. My son taught himself to play the drums listening to Bon Jovi in the 80's. He got so good that he went on to form his own rock band. He once told me (in 1985) that these men of Bon jovi would be around for many years to come. He was right! My son is no longer with us, but every time I hear ''I'll be there for you'' I think of him and the music of Bon Jovi. The concert was the best thing I have ever done for myself. These young men are not only great, they are wonderful people. The drums of Tico, the keyboard, and Richie, need I say more. John has never sounded better. They are the best!

A great outdoor stadium show from a fun band.

I became a fan around 85 & actually went off the band for much of the 90's - the These Days CD I thought was a little weak - the Crush CD turned me around & back onto them. This is definately one of the better music dvds around. JBJ & the boys deliver a great show. Huge crowd, great camera work/ sound production/ editing etc. Not many complaints - Blood on Blood & In These Arms are unfortunately not here. Highlights - there are many 'Livin On A Prayer', 'Lay Your Hands On Me', 'Wanted DOA', 'I'll Sleep When I'm Dead', 'Bed of Roses' 'Just Older', 'Keep The Faith' & It's My Life' to name but a few. Sure many of their songs are a little 'formulated', but they are a fun band & they are also very talented musicians. The extras are great - performance videos for 'It's My Life' & 'Say it isn't So' & an interview. Hopefully the rumour is true that they will be releasing a live dvd of the acoustic show they did in Yokohama (Japan) a few weeks back. The song list for that show was dramatically different to the one that is featured in this dvd. I also would like to see them release a dvd including every single one of their performance videos from 'Runaway' right through to the 3 they have done from Bounce. Sure there would be more hair than music for many of the earlier videos (ie they would be outdated compared to current performance video standards) - but hey - many of us grew up listening/ watching those videos, it would be great to have them all on one single dvd. They must have at least 40 performance clips - throw in some solo stuff & some live cuts from their performances at Castle Donnington, Rock in Rio '90, The Moscow Music Peace Festival, MTV Unplugged etc etc & we would all have one hell of a dvd with 50 or so songs. Sound like a good idea?
