What can you say about Bones? The cast of characters is utilized well and the main characters are intriguing to say the least. When I started the series, I was afraid it would be similar to CSI or other current shows that merely build their stories around crimes and the forensic science used to solve them. I've never once felt that way with this show. Yes, the basics are there...the initial crime (usually the finding of a body...or a piece of one at least) normally is how the show starts. Brennan/Bones (Emily Deschanel playing the part of a forensic anthropologist) in concert with FBI Agent Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz, whose character is no slacker in the common sense department) seem at first to be an odd pairing. But as the series progresses, you see not only how very different people can be extraordinarily compatible, but how the give and take of their relationship exposes each of their weaknesses and strengths and no little amount of mutual chemistry. Add to this an ensemble cast that never gives you the feeling they are the "ensemble" and Boreanaz and Deschanel are the Stars, and the result is well written episodes with no feeling that anyone there is filler. Each of the characters has a story and as the seasons progress you learn more about each of them and why they have the particular quirks they have. There are quite a few surprises about the cast members who may ordinarily have been considered second bananas, that keep you wanting to see the next episode to get their complete story. Add to all this the amazing things that can be determined and discovered merely by studying bones and good police work, and you have a very enjoyable show all around. It does deal with death and has some intense visuals at times which may bother younger children, so I'd probably not let anyone pre-teen watch, and younger teens only with a parent or someone else they could discuss any issues with. I watched three seasons before I realized it was only going to get better. I highly recommend the series, but start from the first and work your way up. The information about various cast members that unfolds does have a certain timing to it and if you get it out of order it may be confusing for a while.

Due to the writers strike, this season is a lot shorter than the other two.But do not let this dissuade you in making this purchase. Like season one and two, season three is great. Truly enjoyable to watch. A must have for Bones fans. Plus as a bonus you get additional episodes from season four which is currently airing.

i initially bought this season, in addition to the first two, in order to catch up on the many episodes i had missed. this is an excellent season, and you can't beat watching without commercials.

I love this show and all the cast. I have all the seasons and pray they keep going for at least 10 more years. I can't wait for season 4.

The adventures of Bones and Booth continue in this 3rd season. The show's writers have been adding considerably more humor to the series, as evidenced by the 3rd Season cover. Where the series used to be pretty staid, stoic and serious, they've now added quite a lot of funny banter amongst the lab members, and the addition of the 2 second bananas, while an attempt to make the series more fun, has unfortunately caused it to lose some of its appeal. This trend has continued through the current (fourth) season, and I think viewers are getting weary of the veiled romance between Bones and Booth, and I suggest they get on with it or end it in some way. You'd think by now they would have culminated their relationship by just "doing it" already. These are two prety intelligent people and, especially with the help of Sweets, how is it possible this love has not resolved itself by now? I'd say they need to get on with it. And what's with Angela? Is she gay or straight or both? And does anyone care anymore, really?

this series is one of my favorites. it has a quirky edge, to the point of being awkward at times, with a cast with great comedic timing. it's serious, funny, sexy and fun. definately check it out.

This is a really good show. The chemistry amongst all characters is so good. Love the humor. Love the suspense. It is just an all around great show. I highly recommend this show.

I've enjoyed the Bones series. Addictive, so it's nice to have the DVD to replay my favorite episodes. The little extras like the gag reel and director's cuts are added values. Angela Montenegro is my favorite character.

I think mostly due to the writers' strike, this season is disappointing. The ending is very hurried, and doesn't quite make sense. However, there are some great episodes and well worth adding to you Bones collection!

I thought that for the price paid it was well worth it many other tv series from the writers strike only gave you the episodes that were aired and not really any extras. Bones gave you the episodes, plus bonus episodes from the next season, and other extras.

I suppose if you're considering this DVD, you are already familiar with the premise and characters in the series Bones. If not, go back and start with Season 1 if you like somewhat gruesome, bizarre mysteries with a strong dose of sexual references. This third season got even more out on a limb with bodies found in even more strange circumstances. Although the producer is the forensic anthropologist whose life and experiences inspired the series, the science becomes more unbelievable with each episode. The main character, Dr. Temperance "Bones" Brennan, is deliberately made almost unlikeable but with a strong, ethical character. She is irrationally rational and tramples on others' beliefs willy-nilly. The interplay between her and the highly traditional, intuitive Special Agent Seeley Booth is based on differences that in real life would drive them apart from the outset. The other characters are equally unlikely, yet in a comic-strip way they somehow make the audience watch if not empathize with them. For the most part they are nice to look at. Ryan O'Neal turns in especially good performances as Temperance's felonious father. If you have become impatient with this outrageous series, the third season will only make you more impatient, but if you like looking at someone else's life and being glad you're not there, you just may keep looking the way people look a wrecks of all kinds.
