Overview

The Boogeyman DVD from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment is an interesting disc that sheds light upon what seems to have been a troubled production from the looks of things. First off, the movie's presentation is stellar, with an anamorphic 1.85:1 widescreen picture and 5.1 Dolby Digital sound giving life to the many spooks that litter the film. Extras can be an interesting sort depending on what film they are presented with. In Boogeyman's case, the film is ankled by a ridiculous ending that looks like it was ...

In Boogeyman's case, the film is ankled by a ridiculous ending that looks like it was finished in under a week. Funny, then, that the DVD comes complete with an alternate ending. There's no commentary for this scene or any of the other six deleted scenes, but one look will give you a good idea that there was obviously some confusion going on during the production over just how this sucker was going to come to a close. Adding insult to injury are the multiple animatics and visual effects progressions that populate the extra features, giving one the idea that the effects were good enough to warrant behind-the-scenes explanations (which they absolutely are not). A 35-minute making-of is also included, which, split up into two parts, gives you the idea that: A) Sam Raimi had little to do with the production and B) that director Stephen Kay doesn't make "horror movies" as much as he makes "people movies." Needless to say, many things come to light with these observations after you see the film, which in a way, makes this DVD a perfect fit for the mess that is Boogeyman.

    Staring at the cupboard

Lacking in thrills, good acting "except for Emily" and anything resembling a plot, but not lacking in horrible cgi, we're left with 98 minutes of the guy from 7th Heaven staring at a door. Yawn. I heard Sam Raimi was associated with this. He should go back to low budget as Evil Dead outshines this dreck.

    Boogeyman

I think this movie is cool.It is not really scary but it does make ya jump a little.I really liked the movie because of Barry Watson. He's cool, and a good actor.People told him that he was just making it up,soon to find out that he was right. This movie does have a lesson:sometimes you have to believe what people say because it may just be for your own good.

    Extremely funny movie

This movie caused me to laugh more than any other movie I reviewed this month. The plot was just so horrible that one just has to laugh. The reason I gave it three stars was because it was so funny. I don't see why people rate this movie under the horror category, cause it is definately a comedy to anybody that has brains. Although, if this were under the horror category than of coarse I would give this no stars if possible because it was so funny. So, did I like this movie? NOOO! Did I laugh at it cause it was so stupid? YESS! To anybody out there I will save the next two hours of your life by telling you to not watch this movie.

He is not the boogeyman, I'm the real boogeyman!

The movie Boogeyman is not scary, but a little suprising. Still I didn't like the way the boogeyman looks like, if you want to see scary then look at Sleez Boy. I bet I could come up with a better horror movie than this junk.

    Save Your Money

On the cover of this movie it quotes "This is the scariest movie ever." The only thing scary I found with it is they made this movie. A real yawner. Save your money, bypass this one.

    Made you jump-not think.

The movie made you jump, not think and wonder. It had no plot at all and made me suspenseful the first time I watched it. I jumped only about 5 times and the rest was pathetic. Don't buy this movie- rent it at a cheap video rental store.

    This doesn't deserve a star

This movie is just awful. Whoever thought it would be a good idea to make it should be thrown into a dungeon and left there so they can't make any more movies. What a total waste of money.
