"Boomerang" is, quite simply, the best black-oriented film
ever made. Eddie Murphy is his usual smoothly comedic self as
uber-womanizer Marcus Graham. Halle Berry is warm and absolutely
gorgeous as the girl who eventually reforms him. David Alan Grier and
Martin Lawrence add humorous friendship and support as Marcus's business
and personal buddies. Lela Rochon and Eartha Kitt are, respectively,
appealingly kittenish and appealingly cougarish as conquests in Marcus's
romantic life. Tisha Campbell adds spice and sass as a disgarded ex of
our hero's. Chris Rock is stylishly funky and stylishly spunky as
Marcus's company's office boy and Marcus's Number One admirer. And Robin
Givens effortlessly walks off with the picture as Marcus's female
counterpart, the woman who turns the tables on our guy and gives him a
taste of his own love-'em-and-leave-'em medicine. "Boomerang"
is, on its own, a fiercely funny, fiercely sexy, fiercely engaging
romantic comedy. It is Robin Givens, however, who makes it cinematic heaven.

This movie was a real treat!! Especially Tisha Campbell as the nosy but easily aroused neighbor. The portrayal of African-Americans in a corporate world is just where we need to go. The film got away from stereotypical urban settings. The acting was superb, with the exception of Robin Givens. Grace Jones brought the rolling-on-the-floor-laughing aspect to it. After reading the previous review, I wonder why a white woman would have to say "get the movie you'll be surprised" Are African-American movies expected to be garbage? Was this review helpful? I just saw this on USA tonight and really enjoyed it. I am a white woman and I can say that the movie is not just a ''black'' film, it's really slick and fun movie to look at for anyone. Also interesting to see Halle Berry 10 years ago. She absolutely sparkles, very pretty and fun to watch and Eddie Murphy is great, David Alan Greer, Grace Jones is her ridiculous self....really funny, entertaining.....get the movie, you will be surprised! Was this review helpful? This is one of my all time favorites and I since we are in the 21st Century the majority of society has converted to enjoying such classics on DVD Players. Would someone please have Columbia House make this on DVD.Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.

I would give my left nut to have this on DVD. This movie sets the bar for black elegance in entertainment. I used to watch this move every other day until my tape broke. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.

This movie is the epitome of Black Elegance the story itself is truly hilarious and although I can think of other actors that could have done Eddie Murphy's role, he nonetheless does an outstanding and tremendous job and I recommend to any one with a desire to see African Americans as something other than ''Boyz in the Hood.''Was this review helpful?
