Barnes & Noble - Donald Liebenson
Junior high school is not exactly the wonder years. Whoops; wrong show and wrong Savage brother. This 1993 series was part of ABC's TGIF family programming block. Unlike the nostalgic Wonder Years, Boy Meets World is very much of the here-and-now (or at least there-and-then), as 11-year-old sixth-grader Cory (Ben Savage) struggles to make sense of his rapidly changing life. Cory has the standard-issue sitcom family: bland but loving parents; a cooler older brother; and an adorable younger sister in the Olsens mode. For those yet to make the wisecracking, hyper-verbal Cory's acquaintance, he may take some warming up to. The anchor of the series is Mr. Feeny (William Daniels), Cory's teacher and neighbor, who gives as good as he gets from the insubordinate Cory. It is refreshing to see a teacher portrayed on television as something other than a clueless buffoon, and Daniels's gravitas grounds each episode (as witness "Teacher's Bet," in which Feeny and Cory switch places in the classroom). Among other highlights is the episode "Cory's Alternative Friends," which marks the introduction of Cory's future love interest, Topanga (Danielle Fishel). Boy Meets World ran for seven seasons, and has enjoyed continued popularity in syndication. Nostalgia may not be what it used to be, but, like Saved by the Bell, this series is something of a generational guilty pleasure that children of the '90s will enjoy revisiting.

    Awesome Show!

I grew up with this show, and it's awesome. I especially love the earlier seasons. I would definitely recommend it. The first season is very funny. I think it would appeal to a very diverse audience. I can't wait to get the second season. My only complaint is that there are not very many extras included with the first season. The show itself, however, is great!

    GREAT

I never watched the show during original air, but I fell madly in love with it during the many years of reruns that followed. BOY MEETS WORLD has something todays comedies do not; it makes you laugh, but it makes you care. After a couple episodes, you feel like you know Cory, Topanga, Shawn, and the rest, like they're you friends down the street. It makes you cry, makes you laugh, and like I said, makes you care. I've been waiting awhile for this release and was starting to think they might never release the series :(. Thank goodness! Awesome series, one the best TV series ever. Just one thing: I thought the show aired for 7 seasons, but 'Jason', the other reviewer, mentioned BMW seasons 2-9. ??

    LOVE IT!!

I love this show!! I never saw it when it aired originally but so many channels have had reruns. I like the college ones better but some of the middle school ones are pretty funny.

    The start of something great!

Well where do I begin, I grew up watching this show, friday nights on TGIF. This show is a classic, I love every single episode of this show from the first to the last. This is a must buy for any fan of the show, I plan on buying the entire collection as it comes out and having Boy Meets World marathons with my friends. This DVD is great for college parties, I highly recommend this DVD as it is the greatest show of all time, thank you.
