From the producers of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe and the mind of author Katherine Paterson comes a rousing fantasy adventure about family, friendship, and the wondrous power of imagination. A perpetual outsider both at home and at school, Jess Aarons (Josh Hutcherson) just never seems to fit in no matter how hard he tries. When his goal to become the fastest runner in middle school is unexpectedly thwarted by newly arrived classmate Leslie Burke (AnnaSophia Robb), who enters in an "all boys" race and leaves her competitors in the dust, Jess soon strikes up a friendship with the imaginative outsider. Their bond is soon cemented thanks to Leslie's love for storytelling and Jess' skill as an artist, and the two lonely kids create a secret kingdom called Terabithia that is only accessible by swinging over a stream on a nearby rope. Though Jess and Leslie may be considered outcasts by their classmates, their adventures in Terabithia find the pair doing battle against the dreaded Dark Master and his malevolent creatures while plotting revenge against the schoolyard bullies. Now, thanks to his adventures in Terabithia and his friendship with Leslie, Jess finally finds the confidence needed to stand tall and be himself.

I have been waiting for a kids movie to come out that contained real problems, real solutions, friendship, heartache, and lessons about growing up. Bridge to Terabthia contains all of these and more. For too long now every movie for the kid generation have been cartoon animated and in my opinion fun but lacking real lessons. PARENTS... be forwarned you may not want to bring children under the age of 6 to see this movie as it does have a not-so-typical Disney ending and contains such things and bullying and death. This movie has made me cry every single time I have watched it. The acting of both the children as well as that of the supporting adult actors and actresses is incredible and the movie has a very good storyline and plot which stays true to the book. This beautiful work of art deserves several awards in my oppinion so if you have not yet seen it please do.
This was a very interesting and touching movie. I loved the incorporation of fantasy and imagination, while still having a very realistic touch to it. This was about a young boy who was bullied by almost everyone at school, and he didn't have any friends. Then a girl moved in next door and his life suddenly changed because he had finally made a friend. The two friends created their own imaginary world for just the two of them and had great adventures. I do not advise children under the age of 8 to watch this because it is a little about bullying and very sad. I give this 5 stars!
This movie is best of all! Better than Ghost Rider, Narnia, Apocalypto, Firehouse Dog its the best of ALLLLLLLLLLLLLL !!!!!!!!!!!! Buy it don't think about it ..... BUY IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This movie has moved me a lot. It's a good representation of family issues, friendship, public schools in the country (and other places), and the use of imagination. I totally reccomend this movie 100%!!!!
I saw this movie on it's opening night, and I thought it was outstanding!!! I was sad for a week after I saw it, but it was totally worth it! Josh Hutcherson is a good actor, and AnnaSophia Robb is OUTSTANDING!!!! AnnaSophia was awesome in Because of Winn-Dixie and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and I am a HUGE fan of hers. But this is DEFINITELY her best performance as Leslie, an outgoing, spunky, imaginative girl. I love AnnaSophia!!!! This movie is so moving, has a good plot and story, special effects, and is all around PERFECT!! It's one of my favorites!!!!!!! AnnaSophia Robb FOREVER!!!!!!!!
I saw this movie at my summer camp and I really liked it. It was really sad, though. I still can't beleve that Leslie died. But, it was still okay. I reccomend it for kids 10 and older.
I saw the movie right when it came out. AnnaSophia Robb is one of my all time favorites. But I have to saythis is her best.
I saw this movie within the first week of it's showing. I thought that the plot was great and the cast was in perfect character. I think that it was very sad when Leslie died because you get so atached to the characters, and then they take one away from you. But I strongly recomend this movie.
this is now my favorite movie. the acting was excellent by AnnaSophia Robb. i love her so much. i'm still so sad about what happened and i cryed so much(and i mean BAWLING my eyes out!!!)i also love the song AnnaSophia sang. its on my mp3 player and on repeat for about 3 days now!!!
Great story! The characters were awesome I fell in love with them all! The contrast between her family and his, and the world they create is quite imaginative. A great family film...so good, it made my male friends cry! A surprise ending that touches and moves hearts everywhere!
This is a great coming of age story. Its sad and compelling and makes one want to turn to his/her family.
this was one of the best movies i've seen. a bit sad, especialy at the end, but a REALLY great movie. it made me wanna cry, and that doesn't usualy happen with a movie. WATCH IT!!!!!
This movie was pretty good. AnnaSophia Robb and Josh Hutcherson did a great job. Before I saw it, I thought they actually went to a real Terebithia place, and was kind of disapointed how they imagined everything. And i hated the ending! But the movie had a cool plot and I liked how they used Terebithia to get away from all the problems in their life.
This is a great movie! I highly recommend that you READ THE BOOK before you watch the movie.
I. Absolutely. Loved. It. My older brother hated it. He thought it was cheesy, but hey, isn't it always the "cheesy" movies that turn them off? The ending was a bit unexpected, but I'm glad that they didn't stick to the regular plot of children's movies-- It's all happy and nobody gets hurt, yadda yadda, throw in the little fairies. I'm a pre-teen, and I loved this movie. I love Josh Hutcherson, he's a great actor, and he's very convincing. I don't care much for Annasophia, but I have to say... I have to give her props for her acting in this film. She was wonderful. I cried many times, mostly because of the situations Josh was in! This was one of the best movies of all time!
Whether one slips through an old wood framed mirror or into the mist at the forest's edge, there is always some opportunity for a personal Terabithia, an escape to mystery and happiness. The fun lies in the choice - does one ignore it or embrace it? This movie is all the more interesting than the norm however because it has several levels of psychology. The dark shape who constantly stalks the two forever-friends on the Terabithia side of the creek and appears closer than ever at the end of the story turns out to be the boy's father. Some Freud here. Several levels of story, fantasy and enjoyment lie across the creek in Terabithia, so.... don't miss it!
This movie should have come to the theater with a warning on it for its heavy emotional content. This is not the fun-loving carefree adventure movie that it is advertised to be. I would have never taken my children to see it had I known the plot twist involved the tragic death of a main character. All the guilt, pain and sadness in this movie made everyone cry their eyes out in a miserable way. I repeat this is NOT a movie for children and adults expecting a Happy Feet/Shrek kind of happy escape need to be warned.
I took my kids to see this. It is a gentle introduction into life, love and loss. Heartwarming and sad, it is an excellent film with a top-notch cast. And to the reviewer below me, don't ruin it for everyone else by giving away the plot. Just because you are bitter because it's not happy-go-lucky lollipops and rainbows, don't give away the plot.
