    Beautiful Love Story

    Since this movie is based on the life of the great romantic poet John Keats I knew how it was going to end but it took NOTHING away from the experience. You felt every emotion that went through Fanny and John. And the fun slightly whimsical costuming gave this tragic love story a nice bright spot. If you like period romances this movie is definitely for you. Ben Shaw is amazing, beyond amazing as John Keats. He completely embodies the essence you would expect from one of the greatest poets in history. I am usually not one for movies that I know will end sadly, but I still had a desire to see this film and wow it will just blow you away. I ran out and bought it immediately. You are drawn in from the opening moment and leaves you wanting so much more at the end. I don't even know what really to say, other than you have to see this movie if you like a good romance, or even just a good historical story! WATCH BRIGHT STAR!

    AMAZING!

    I love this movie!I watched it theater and I fell in love.
    I recommend this movie.Especially for those who love literature and the arts. A must see movie.
    cant wait till i comes out for DVD. <3

    One of the most gorgeous and romantically subtle films in years.

    The true beauty of 'Bright Star' is how quiet it is. If you want a film where things blow up, stay away from this one. But if your looking for a film with romantic longing, performances that are so great they stick in your hear, as well as some of the most beautiful poetry then this is for you. The true heart of this film is Abbie Cornish who proves that shes one of the best actresses working, her performance is both girlish and restrained. She has a great curiosity and passion that come off beautifully. Ben Whishaw is great as well, you never know what hes thinking.The last fifteen minutes of the film are filled with raw emotion and honesty, it was hard to breath at times because I was so swept up. The music, script, direction and supporting performances are all perfect. The film puts you in a sort of trance that makes you want to watch it again and again to realize what it is, but like all great work weather it be film, poetry or a painting you dont know why it has the effect on you it does, it just simply does. To quote keats 'Was it a vision, or a waking dream'?.

    Easily the best film of 2009. And the most romantic film in years.

    Parks and Recreation: Season One

    Keats!

    Keats. this film oozes the romanticism of its subject's writing style and time period w/o missing the honesty in these characters and their interactions that allows it to be so relatable--as a love story, and as a story about society, economy, and life. Beautiful costumes and cinematography. beautiful intonations and use of words. really comes down to such basics. and those basics came together in a way that really surprised me.

    the what-ifs that we are compelled to ask as we watch the characters make choices that are often constrained or directed by that moment in time and setting, help drive the story and the interest in it. and must say, maybe the most nuanced and beautifully performed player of all is Brown. the 'friend' of both main characters who demonstrates the realities of social awkwardness and boundaries and difficulties and general conflict. played beautifully by the guy from NBC's Parks and Recreation (Paul Schneider--who is being written out of that show precisely because of his pending film career). i was absolutely driven to review specifically the portions of the movie w/ him in them. very well done.

    Bright Star: The love story of poet John Keats and Fanny Brawne

    I loved this movie, and it now ranks up there with my favorite of all time. A true love tragedy, John Keats fell in love with the love of his life and wrote his masterpieces just before he fell stricken with tuberculosis. The poetry, the conversations and wit, the visuals, are all heart warming and heart wrenching. A scene of Fanny reading Keats' letters in a field of blue bells remains entrenching in my mind.

    This story is beautiful as Keats' poetry was. Ben Whinshaw )not sure if I spelled it correctly) was phenomenal as Keats. Some might have seen him as Sebastian in Brideshead Revisited or as the murderer in Perfume. He is tortured and romantic. I see an Oscar or British Academy Award in his future.

    Abbie Cornish is a young Nicole Kidman. She stole my heart has the eager, stylish, Fanny. If you love poetry and love stories, this movie is for you.

    A Visual Masterpiece

    "Bright Star," directed by Jane Campion, brings the story of Keats and Fanny Brawne to life in breathtaking images, complex characters and fine acting. Each scene looks like a painting - set design and costumes are amazing, and the story heartbreakingly romantic... and true.

    Best Movie of 2010

    This is an exquisite film. Jane Campion has combined superlative script writing and direction with equally fine acting, cinematography and costume design. Men and women both will enjoy the passion, beauty and romance of Bright Star.
