Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble - Michael Stabile
While her bloom began with a few concert clips on her Live and More! video, Britney Spears shows on Live in Las Vegas that she is a performer in full, spectacular flower. Recorded on November 18, 2001, at the MGM Grand hotel and equipped with a small army of lissome dancers, ornate sets, a crack band, and an array of alluring costumes, Spears literally battles the elements on a gigantic stage. Flames, lasers, and -- in the shattering "...Baby One More Time" finale -- gushing rain prove no match for the moves of this pop sensation. Throughout the show, the performer takes time-outs to speak to soldiers in distant military bases, but her shout-outs never interrupt her flow. The grown-up hits, as well as a can't-miss cover of Joan Jett's "I Love Rock 'n' Roll," convey Spears' essential grit and fire. There's more than a hint of bondage in "I'm a Slave 4 U," as Spears leashed in an emerald bra breaks out from a series of cages; still it never goes beyond Bob Fosse lite. DVD extras include a very amusing Janis Joplin parody and a spoof of a "Making the Band" documentary. Tracks are as follows:
  • Oops!... I Did It Again
  • You Drive Me Crazy
  • Overprotected
  • Medley: Born to Make You Happy/Lucky/Sometimes
  • Boys
  • Stronger
  • I'm Not a Girl Not Yet a Woman
  • I Love Rock 'n' Roll
  • What's It's Like to Be Me
  • Lonely
  • Don't Let Me Be the Last to Know
  • Anticipating
  • I'm a Slave 4 U
  • ...Baby One More Time

Here's what she was then and could be now

If anyone impressed about Spears blackout presented the last two years in the media, here's the way one could realize what this girl was then, and what a big potential she stills have to claim again her place in the pop world.
This concert at Las Vegas, at the height of her teen career is really something. No deceptions.
