Overview

Combining the most effective elements of yoga, martial arts, and meditation into an entirely unique and well-rounded workout, Budokon for Beginners offers those looking to get fit a healthy alternative to gyms and expensive health clubs. With two workout options including a 38-minute program as well as an abbreviated version of the same routine, viewers begin by harnessing the power of stillness in a 20-minute yoga practice, followed by a 15-minute martial-arts practice that allows viewers to harness energy through movement, and finally, a brief meditation that promotes power through emptiness. By giving viewers the opportunity to follow the routine through either standard yoga postures or slightly less strenuous versions of the same poses, this exercise routine allows viewers to work at their own pace to find just the workout to match their specific needs.

I bought this when it first came out as my first and only workout DVD for years (I have a gym in my basement to supplement). I love it! It's great for people who like martial arts, kickboxing, yoga and even pilates. When I bought this I was NOT in good shape--the gym had gone unused for a while in my case--and I had never done yoga, kickboxing, martial arts, etc. and I found this DVD manageable and fun. I pulled this out a year ago and I've since bought a couple dance, pilates, and straight yoga DVDs to add to the gym, but this is still my favorite. I do this workout even after I've gone 30 min. on the elliptical and some slight weight training; it gives you tremendous energy and makes you feel good and really accomplished from all the martial arts moves. Ultimately, while I rotate one of my other DVDs into my workout once a week, I do this one three times a week and I'm looking forward to buying some of his newer ones.
