Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble - Kryssa Schemmerling
This comprehensive 11-disc box set brings together the works of the man who was not only one of America's greatest silent comedian but one of its greatest filmmakers. All ten of Buster Keaton's feature-length films, including his three masterpieces, The General, The Navigator, and Sherlock, Jr., are included here. Equally valuable are the set's 19 shorts, many of them extremely rare. They offer some of the biggest laughs in the Keaton canon while deepening understanding and appreciation of his mature work. Keaton directed numerous one-reelers before he made The Three Ages, a parody of D. W. Griffith's Intolerance that was his first full-length film, and in them it is possible to see the evolution of his gags and overall comedic style. Bonus materials include Keaton's 1950s TV show, his home movies, a photo gallery, and more. An essential addition to any cinema buff's collection, The Art of Buster Keaton is a landmark DVD release.

    more from this reviewer

Buster's genius is still alive and well!

This is the ultimate collection of Buster Keaton's finest work. There are over 1,000 hours of features, shorts, and tons of extras you won't find in any other Keaton collection.

In owning this, you will own the best of film history, of comedy history, of history in general. If you are a Buster buff, a silent film fanatic, or just a big fan of comedy, you will not regret putting out the money for this. You definitely get what you pay for!

Buster Keaton is the best of them all. This collection proves it.

Being a long-time fan of Buster Keaton, I was excited to receive this collection. I pealed off the wrap and started watching. There are 11 DVDs in the set and each one is great. The Shorts are particularly enjoyable. The collection is comprehensive and nicely transferred. There is so much of his material included in this box-set that I had never seen before. Even though the total price is high, it's worth it to have all these treasures in one collection. I can recommend The Art of Buster Keaton without hesitation.
