Soviet radicals upset with the thawing of the Cold War explode a nuclear weapon in Russia, setting off a series of events that may very well trigger World War III. The president (Martin Landau) has been isolated after a helicopter accident and must outwit government and military officials who are attempting to go forward with the war. I have been waiting for this on DVD for some time. This is a thrilling post-cold war nuclear thriller. It has an all star cast and will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end. A must have!

A terrific "could this really have happened" story. Everyone's nightmare come true, similar to "Fail Safe," yet a different take on the subject. Kept me on the edge of my seat until the very end, and even though I know how it ends, I keep watching it because it is my favorite cold war story, even more so than "Hunt for Red October" (Sorry Sean Connery but Powers Boothe really rocks! Even though Rebecca De Mornay makes a realistic co-pilot she can't substitute for Sam Neill.). Only "On the Beach," "The Day After," and "Testament" surpasses this movie in thrills and scares. Worth buying to have in one's library.

what would happen if our government lost control of its nuclear weapons? this movie shows us just how horrible the results could be. with exciting action sequences and heart pounding plots, this one will keep you on the edge of your seat.it is also a touching story of one man's fight to do the right thing and one general's ultimate sacrafice to preserve peace and humanity.
