The format for the shorts finds Mater in storytelling mode, recounting some fantastic adventure or other to a few of his fans, eventually pulling a reluctant McQueen into yarn. The first three shorts -- "Rescue Squad Mater," "Mater the Greater," and "El Materdor" -- debuted in October 2008. The next four -- "Unidentified Flying Mater," "Tokyo Mater," "Heavy Metal Mater," and "Monster Truck Mater." -- appeared between November 2009 and July 2010. The last two in the series -- "Moon Mater" and "Mater Private Eye" - premiered on DVD and Blu-ray.
