Rubin, Stephen Burns and Michael Hershewe. Their prize horse is thoroughbred foal Casey's Shadow, named after the youngest son Hershewe. The question is whether or not Lloyd, a life-long loser, can take advantage of the opportunity for bettering his lot afforded by Casey's Shadow. Alexis Smith co-stars as Sarah Blue, a wealthy woman who becomes Matthau's strongest ally when she offers to buy the horse rather than allow the vindictive Mike Marsh Robert Webber to destroy it.

    Our family was in this movie!!!

    Our entire family got to be extra's thru-out this movie which was filmed in Ruidoso, NM at the ALL AMERICAN FUTURITY...it was such a fun experience...and we got to spend the day at the track in the Turf Club with Walter Matthau...he gave us an autograph...a really nice man...great film!

    I actually saw this!

    Based on the the life of trainer Lloyd Romero and his sons including jockey Randy Romero. Good down home racing movie about a little guy aiming for the All American Futurity. Good music too!
