    Beautifully done!

This is a beuatifully conceived and executed presentation of the Catholic faith. Father Barron is eloquent, extremely knowledgeable and clearly passionate about his faith. The photography, locations and images create an affect that stirs the mind, the senses, and definitely, the soul. This is long overdue, but it all likelihood it is being brought to us at the right time, so that we can look at the Church in a new light, with greater understanding and appreciation. To focus on what the Church is, versus what it is not, or to discern that humanity is part of the living faith of the Church, and that in the end, it is the humanity of faith that we need to embrace to become better people for ourselves and our brethen all over the world. It is a gift that is perfect as we celebrate the true reason behind Christmas, and its intention, of love and fellowship with all who share this life together. I have been restored in my faith and I was a questioning and skeptical believer, but seen from a new perspective, my faith has grown in meaning and worth with the help of this series and the companion book. It is concise, but substantive and written by someone whom I believe truly lives the faith he has embraced and lives each day.

Entertaining and Educational Story of the teachings of the Catholic Church

Fr. Bob Barron narrates and hosts a wonderful exposition of the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church in a highly polished and beautiful presentation here. This is the series that has been broadcast on PBS all over the country. Fr. Barron, a priest at Mundelein Seminary in the Archdiocese of Chicago, travels all over the globe to present a unique visual summary of Catholicism, which, along with his insightful narrative gives a thoroughly modern display of the timeless teachings of the Catholic Church. I also recommend the book, but the DVD set is really something you have to see to get the full understanding of Fr Barron's message, which shows the manifestation of the Catholic teachings in art, history, music and the complex relationship of the the Catholic Church to society, both ancient and modern. Truly a masterpiece, I recommend it for Catholics and non-Catholics who are interested in learning more about the Catholic Church.

I bought this to share with my future son-in-law so he would have a better understanding of the Catholic faith after hearing so many great things about it. Now that I've watched the whole thing, I may have to buy another because I LOVED it and maybe don't want to share (how sinful is that?!) Fr. Barron does an exceptional job of hitting the high points of the Catholic faith. It is visually stunning and I found myself playing the dvd over and over because the soundtrack was so beautiful. The only negative is that now I want to visit all the places that were used in the filming especially Italy, France, and India...sigh....
