Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble
The five-member collective Celtic Woman put a modern spin on traditional Irish music and are quickly becoming a worldwide sensation. Singers Chloë, Lisa, Méav, and Órla, along with violinist Máiréad Nesbitt, perform both solo and in breathtaking ensemble pieces where their voices meld like haunting echoes heard over mountains, valleys, and lakes. Their first DVD is a special 2004 performance taped in front of a Dublin audience at the prestigious Helix Centre. Highlights include the singers' unique interpretations of such timeless Irish classics such as "Danny Boy," as well as contemporary hits such as Enya's "Orinoco Flow" and the Clannad staple "Harry's Game." A musical duel between violinist Nesbitt and two handsome Irish bodhrán drummers has the audience dancing out of their seats. Whether you dance at home while watching this disc is up to you, but Celtic Woman are certainly capable of stirring one to action.

    The Best

Celtic Women represent the very best in comtemporary and semi-classical music. The individual women are remarkable artists. The production is outstanding.

    I Love the Celtic Woman!

I saw Celtic Woman last year on my local PBS station and I couldn't stop watching them. They are wonderful! Their voices, oh man, I really wished I had their voices. They sound angelic. For all those who have not heard of them, buy one of their CDs or DVDs. I promise you, you will not be disappointed.

    Amazingly Entertaining!

Dynamic, Up-Lifting and full of energy! The Celtic Woman production kept my attention through out. How can it get any better than this? The atmosphere, the set: it was all great! Their were no doubt that the entertainers were injoying themselves, as much as I was watching them. The musical numbers were outstanding. I will be watching this DVD over and over again. Thanks! Celtic Woman...

Contemporary classical, is it woth listening to?

i've always been a fan of pop music and that's it my door's closed. however, discovering about contemporary classical has broadened my views on music. irish /celtic music & songs have never been popular anywhere as far as i know, but now it's all the rage. it's fun to listen to, especially with it's haunting and enchanting stories it tell of those who've loved and lost. i recommend it 100%. yep, my favorites are ''jesu joy of man's desiring'', ''nella fantasia'', and ''a soft goodbye''.

    Breathtakingly beautiful

I watched this performance on PBS and was absolutely blown away by the gorgeous voices of these women and the selections they performed. I felt like I was in Ireland with them and it fueled my desire to visit the land of my ancestors even more. What wonderful music!

    I've heard fiddle music before...

... but The Butterfly and The Contradiction played by Mairead on this CD are breath-taking. I really like the last song, Si Do Mhaimeo I, where Meav's voice flits and soars and sounds like it could be a sister of the violin. The chorus adds a lot of energy to this tune too. I saw the CD at a B&N while on a long road trip this week and picked it up on a whim. I played it over and over. Now I'm looking all over the place trying to find the DVD and info on tickets for the tour that they're supposedly going to do this year.
