    Disappointed

I so looked forward to watching the series on DVD. I had taped the original series, but the quality of my tapes was poor. The DVD cut so many of my favorite scenes, scenes that lent so much to the beauty of the entire story! I would have paid more to have the entire series on DVD. Was thinking of purchasing other TV series but am having second thoughts if they cut out so may scenes.

    Centennial Was so,so...

This was not an unexpected viewing, knowing that this was a TV mini-series. The first two episodes were captivating, and declined to miserable performances towards the end, with a slight inspirational, and acting, upturn in the last 2-3 episodes.

It captured Mitchner's picture of what shaped our country to a moderate degree. Not having read the book in many years, I don't recall if his message about preserving the planet was as strong as the mini-series portrays.

Still, this left me thinking about my place in history...though hardly a tribute to Mitchner's writing skills, and a fantastic book that he wrote called "Centennial". Buy the Book!!!!!

    A reviewer

The TV series "Centenial" allows you to live the development, the lives and the drama of the west and western expansion. An abslolute must for any person who enoys historical dramas and living stories of the west.

THE BEST MINI-SERIES EVER - Five Stars plus

I watch the entire series once a year. I taped it when it first came out, then bought the tapes when they first came out (was about $200.00 then) Now I await the DVD's. The cast is tremendous. Gregory Harrison, Richard Chamberlain, Robert Conrad, Alex Karras (was never better), David Jansen, Raymond Burr, Lynn Redgrave - I would have given Emmys to all of them.

    Awaiting The DVD

Read the book in '74 - thought it was fantastic ... saw the TV series when it was screened in Ireland .. Absolutely loved it .. the stars matched the book's characters so well .... didn't have a video back then .. so I've had to read the book again !!! Only realised that it was available on Video when browsing 'the web' -it's not readily available here in Australia.

    Truly A Masterpiece!!

I still have the TV Guide section from when Centennial first aired. I taped the complete series many years ago, but didn't do well in editing out the commercials ....then my wife got me this 12 volume set and it is truly a masterpiece. I too am eagerly awaiting it's release on DVD.
