Image's release of the complete restored Essanay and Mutual Chaplin short films is currently the best on the market. The films are in remarkably good shape, considering their age. The soundtracks are uneven, however. Some of them are quite fine, others are uninspired theatre organ scores. Be that as it may, the films are so good, who cares if the soundtracks aren't all they might be? After all, these are some of Chaplin's very best films. Avoid the Chaplin sets by Platinum, Delta, TGG, and Passport -- they stink. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
