Barnes & Noble - Donald Liebenson
Whatever Lola wants, Lola doesn't necessarily get; but in these five wonderful stories from the winsome BBC animated series based on Lauren Child's books, Lola's older brother, Charlie, does his best to creatively help his sister handle life's little disappointments and challenges. In "I Can Do Anything That's Everything All On My Own," Lola takes independence to extremes until Charlie shows her that some things are more fun when done with a companion. Lola is sad after being picked to play a leaf instead of the sun in the school play in "There Is Only One Sun and That Is Me!" That is, until Charlie helps Lola see that leaves are "really extremely special." In "I've Won...No, I've Won...No, I've Won," Charlie helps Lola learn about playing fair. In "It Wasn't Me," Lola must accept responsibility for breaking Charlie's prizewinning homemade rocket. In "Say Cheese," see what develops when messy Lola makes every effort to stay clean for her school picture. In "My Little Town," it's Charlie who gets a lesson in sharing and playing together when he ignores Lola's contributions to their new play set. Wise in its intimately observed portrayal of a loving sibling relationship, Charlie and Lola is one of those rare children's series that will charm viewers of all ages.

Charlie & Lola are my absolute favorite and my best!

I look forward to this cute little series every day with my 4 year old daughter. The animation and children's voices are so fun, and Lola has a way of getting into everything with such verve and spunk that I wish I could bring her home with us! Absolutely the cutest series. Especially the "Sun" one.
