Overview

As originally aired on CBS from September 1960 through September 1962, the prime time detective drama Checkmate starred Anthony George and Doug McClure as, respectively, Don Corey and Jed Sills , the co-proprietors of a very posh San Francisco investigative agency. The agency's assignments shared a characteristic somewhat unusual for work of this nature: in lieu of investigating the circumstances surrounding crimes that had already occurred, the men were often commissioned by individuals who believed their lives or safety to be in grave danger - in other words, clients who were anticipating the occurrence of some future crime. This set features the entire two-season, 70-episode run of the program, with guests including Martin Landau, Joseph Cotten, Patricia Neal and many others. The set features full-screen presentation, interactive menus and episode selection.

A very intriguing series set during the early 60s. Nearly every episode features a future or former star-Donna Douglas, Elizabeth Montgomery, Peter Lorre, Charles Laughton, Jack Benny, Mary Tyler Moore, the list goes on forever. The cast is excellent and no two episodes are alike. by the third year a lot of the plots are pretty lame and it's rare to see all 3 stars working together. Perhaps pretty boy McClure was already on his way to the Virginian. Still, if you can pick this up at a decent price it is definitely worth watching.
