    A remake you say???

This version, directed by the original's producer is much closer in spirit to the original Stephen King short story. That said... on with the review...

Personally... I thought it was quite good. More professional looking (photography is quite arresting) than the original. Cast is game. This version, Burt and Vicki are near the end of their marriage. They hate each other and the world is falling apart from them as well.

David Anders (of ALIAS, HEROES and this upcoming season of 24) is Burt... Kandyse McClure (Dee of Battlestar Galactica and the remake of CARRIE a couple of years back) is Vicki. Both perform quite well. You believe they are a couple at the end.

The kids... pretty good indeed. And... many more of them than in the original, plus some backstory as to what happened in Gatlin, NE...

Tech credits are slick. Most importantly, Jonathan Elias returns to re-score the pic with Nathanial Morgan. Themes are expanded, adding more complexity to the proceedings. As good, if not better than his original 1984 pic score. AWESOME.

Director Donald Borchers stages the pic with confidence and keeps the pace moving along quite well. It does have one lag though... And, it is near the end of the pic.

All in all... a terrific update for a guilty pleasure of 1984. Bring it on...
