Average family fare but the spirituality is missing

This is the continuing story of Christy, based on the wonderful novel by Catherine Marshall. Christy comes to a poverty striken mountain community, Cutter Gap, to teach in 1912. She brings her faith in God and her courage to the people. Two men fall in love with her, the doctor and the preacher. This movie lacks the spirituality of the original Christy series, which aired on CBS in 1994-95. Instead, the movie focuses on the needs of the two men who want to marry Christy. The other problem is that these poor mountain folk are very well dressed and they all wear tons of make-up. The poor young'uns are picture perfect child models with modern, trendy haircuts. The writing is unfocused with too many subplots to keep track of. The directing is also very unfocused; it randomly goes from storyline to storyline. The acting is much better than the writing or directing. The very real chemistry between Christy and the doctor is delightful. Buy this video to see the wonderful acting and try to find videos of the original series to enjoy the beautiful spiritual side of the story that is missing here.
