Beautifully filmed bio of Ms. Chanel before she became The Legend...

This is a gorgeous movie, beautifully acted and scripted. Audrey Tautou, in her subtle and fierce performance, captures the tenacity, charm, intelligence and remarkably original take on life that propelled Gabrielle Chanel from an orphan abandoned by her father to the famed icon of twentieth century fashion her last name now embodies. The costumes and scenery are gorgeous and authentic, the acting sublime - especially that of Benoît Poelvoorde, who plays Coco's older, jaded playboy lover/friend/financial provider Baron Balsan during her early days. I especially loved the passionate scenes between Coco and the true love of her life, "Boy" Capel, and the simplicity and beauty of the final scene showing the designer in all of her glory...ah, but at what price? A moving, elegant, fitting tribute to a remarkable woman.

    Dripping Eye Candy-O

I like this film for the simple fact that it portrays the life and times of Coco Chanel who is my favorite sort of particular witch. In addition to that bonus, Audrey Tatou has never been sexier than she is on the stairs at the end of this film. This is as close to naked as I have ever had the opportunity of viewing her. Ms. Tatou's performance is excellent and carries the film.

The set and the cinematography are of the highest order but the weak points are the plot and the script..such a waste. The film is however still worth seeing several times. Audrey Tatou bears some of the most stunning and seriously disturbed hegm.. hard thumbnail polish in all of cinema.

    Dripping Eye Candy O

I like this film because it portrays Coco Chanel who was my favorite kind of particular witch. The added bonus is Audrey Tataou filmed closest to naked as I have ever seen her and in a rather film-carrying performance. The set and cinematography are A number one. The weak links are the script and the plot. Look at as an Adam Ant Videodrome. Audrey has some seriously disturbed and hard eghm..thumbnail polish.
