what a lovely collection. Miller's Crossing is in my top 10 all-time favorite movies by anyone, and is my favorite Coen brothers movie: even above the excellent Fargo, which i must also watch yearly.
i was hooked on the Coen style when i saw Blood Simple back when it was the only Coen movie: i watched it over and over on cable tv, enthralled by the story's kinks. incredible. then, i never laughed so hard as while i watched Raising Arizona, especially when the baby fell on Hi's back. this amazing collection is rounded out by the ultimately outrageous Barton Fink. i like not being able to predict what is going to happen the first time i watch a movie. these five movies filled that bill, and engross me and delight me every time i see them again.

Great package of the Coen Brothers' greatest hits! A "must have" for fans of independent films!

Posted 2/9/2009: With their always perverse sense of humor, the Coen brothers' movies are terrific, if not spell-binding. The visual element hits the viewer first: it's stunning, has great composition and color, and is edited suspensefully.
The cast, often from a group of regulars, is first rate, always able to infect moments that can be terrifying on the surface, with an antic subtext. The plots always have bizarre and unlikely elements that are made to fit neatly into the overall story. Do watch them with friends as their responses will add to the enjoyment.
