Editorial Reviews

All Movie Guide - Brian J. Dillard
Somewhere in this high-concept muddle of class warfare, yuppie angst and aborted infidelity lurks a fun little gothic chiller. Juliette Lewis and Stephen Dorff provide pitch-perfect trashy victim/villains, while Sharon Stone and Dennis Quaid hit all the right notes as an upper middle-class couple seeking some respite from go-go New York. The problem with Cold Creek Manor, then, is that instead of relegating all of its cultural baggage to the background, it brings it forward and, eventually, over the top. It's a romantic drama masquerading as a horror story rather than the other way around. How else to explain the generally limp haunted-house set-pieces and the focus on run-of-the-mill relationship angst? If screenwriter Richard Jefferies and director Mike Figgis trusted more in the conventions of psychological horror and focused on executing them with understated flair, this could have been an edge-of-your-seat delight. As filmed, though, Cold Creek Manor is more like warmed-over One Night Stand, all clever contrivances and pat resolution.

Cold Creek Manor The Underrated Masterpiece

This is Hollywood. The masterpieces are flamed and the crap are supported. This movie, with "The Shining Miniseries", "Jason Takes Manhattan" and "Event Horizon" is one of the most Underrated films of all time. ANALYSIS: Dennis Quaid is wonderful in this movie. An amazing actor, who has never had the recognition than he deserves. Kristen Stewart... she has a minor role and she performed the role perfectly. Naturalness. Amazingness. Beauty. Perfection. THIS is Kristen Stewart. Sharon stone is a bit confused... it's not her best performance, but it's not bad at all. Stephen Dorff is perfect in the "bad guy" role. Juliette Lewis, Christopher Plummer and Danna Eskeltson are really good secondary characters. The script is fine, it has some mistakes, but it's not bad at all. The original soundtrack... is perfect. Mike Figgis knows how keep the tension. The music fits with the film perfectly, and the "Main Theme" is a masterpiece. The movie could has been a little longer, but it's OK. Cast: 9'51/10 - Original Soundtrack: 9'47/10 - Acting: 9'23/10 Directed: 9'01/10 - Script: 8'46/10 - OVERALL: 9'14/10

    Awesome!!!

This movie is wonderful! It's full of suspence, action, and drama! The only warning I give you is that children under the age of 12 SHOULD NOT watch this movie because their is some inappropriate things (Such as lanuage, killings, etc.). but this movie i would deffinatley say to be a good one.

    A great thriller

I love the story line and everything in between. This movie was great. It was everything a thriller should be. It was suspenceful, scary, good acting, and most of all thrilling.

    cold creek manor

my friends and i rented two movies one of the them was the texas chainsaw remake (wasn't that bad to be honest) and originally was to get either house of the dead (glad i didn't) or cold creek manor. we thought about it and chose cold creek. Keep in mind that trailers can be misleading. Honestly I was disappointed and do not recommend it though Kristen Stewart is in this but not really a main character. Don't bother checking this one out. This is the story of a family who move into a house and must say that the movie was weird and kinda sick.

Stay far, far away from this movie.

Cold Creek Manor was one of the worst, and most boring movies that I've seen in my entire life. It wasn't scary, it had no twists or turns, entirely predictable, and it was not suspenseful. Whats to like? Well.....Nothing!
