Absolutely excellent prequel to Lonesome Dove! Great character development! Disappointing only to children addicted to non-stop action and violence. This is a story for grownups.

    More Like Waning Moon

Sadly lacking substance to connect it with the oustanding original Lonesome Dove. Should be renamed Waning Moon due to it's lackluster showing.

    Ten Stars!

Great and outstanding movie! Gus was very funny and blind in love with festiy Clara. Too bad that Maggie had died and she was very sweet lady and mother to little Newton "Newt".

    A reviewer

Val Kilmer is so far over the top it's hard not to laugh at how silly he is when on screen. The rest of the acting is good but the script is so-so so the actors have very flimsy material to work with. Lonsesome Dove is a classic and wringing dollars from it's legacy is resulting in some of the worst westerns out there.
