Overview

The global economic system, and the ongoing battle of Government vs. Market, was thoroughly dissected and disseminated in this three-part PBS documentary series. Producer/director William Cran solicited the on-camera opinions of 150 experts from every strata of the world's financial structure. Among those interviewed are former Federal Reserve chairman Paul Volcker, economists Milton Friedman and John Kenneth Galbraith, and political leaders Bill Clinton, Vicente Fox, Mikhail Gorbachev, Lech Walesa, Dick Cheney, and Newt Gingrich. The titles of the individual two-hour episodes include "The Battle of Ideas, "The Agony of Reform, and "The New Rules of the Game." Commanding Heights: The Battle for the World Economy was seen over PBS from April 3 to 17, 2002.
