Love this movie! Love Vince Vaughn!
I usually love Vince Vaughn for a great laugh, but this movie was terrible! The only thing it had going were some big name stars. I thought the funniest scenes were done by the kids of Vince Vaughn. No build up, no real laughs, not even a climax or ending....couples go away to beautiful vacation spot and not allowed to enjoy themselves, go through early morning couselling against their will, start hating each other...horrible screen play. Could have done so much more with the talent hired!
The first sub-story of one couple talking the other three couples to commit to the trip is funny. The second sub-story is on the island west with one of the party plotting to go to Eden East. Great fun.. 'Is it a party yet?' Kristin Davis (Lucy) is more beautiful here than her roles in 'Sex & The City' The two scences in the hardware store where awesome. The original ending is beautiful, but unlike 'The Proposal', I liked the original ending best.
This was a total waste of time except for the scenery which there was not much of that either. If you love to watch people belittle each other which occurs through a lot of the movie then this movie is for you. There are a few funny moments but you probably already saw those in the preview shots. The acting was better than the script as the flow of this movie is very slow and you can pretty much guess the ending. I would wait for this movie to go on sale for the $5.00 or less dollar range, purchase and then do with it what you want.
If you thought the previews were funny and promised more to come...then you thought wrong. The only funny bits were in the previews. We cut this off and don't really care how it ended, although I am pretty sure I know. Check out Death at a Funeral.
