Britney Spears' movie debut arrives on DVD in a package tailored to teens. Crossroads is presented in anamorphic widescreen 1.85:1, with Dolby Digital 5.1 audio. Both English and French soundtrack options are available, along with English subtitles. A multitude of special features are available. The more mundane extras include a "Photo Gallery," three "Trailer & TV Spots" and the "DVD Credits." Three different "Featurettes" give behind the scenes views. "The Making of Crossroads: 40 Days With Britney" is an insider's look at the movie and it includes cast and crew interviews. "Taryn's T-Shirts" is a How-To piece that gives detailed instructions by Taryn Manning on creating the retro t-shirts the trio wore in the New Orleans Karaoke scene. "First in Line: Inside the Crossroads Premiere" is hosted by Zoe Saldana who gives an intimate look at the excitement and exhaustion of a premiere. Several "Deleted Scenes" are included with On-Camera Introductions by Director Tamra Davis. A number of humorous outtakes involving Lucy's (Spears) lab partner, Henry (Justin Long) trying unsuccessfully to seduce her make this piece especially worth watching. A "Commentary by Producer Ann Carli, Director Tamra Davis & Writer Shonda Rhimes" gives amusing anecdotes about the actresses involved. It could not be a Britney DVD if "Music Videos" of "Overprotected" and "I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman" were not included. Spears' involvement is found in "Britney's DVD Welcome" and "Break Through Britney", a Pop-Up extra that allows viewers to see Britney break through the movie in a small pink bubble to share her personal memories. Two features appealing to the Pop star wannabe are "Edit Your Own Music Video" which allows participants to choose the order of video sequences in Britney's "I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman" video and "Sing Along With Britney" which includes Karaoke videos of "Overprotected" and "I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman." On a whole, Crossroads' DVD is a great package that should leave fans "Anticipating" more work from Britney as an actress.

Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble - Gregory Baird
Pop star Britney Spears sings and dances her way across America in her screen debut -- a coming-of-age drama designed as a showcase for the teen idol, whose famous midriff appears early and often. Directed by Tamra Davis (Gun Crazy), Crossroads stars Spears as a high school senior from Georgia who learns about life on a road trip west with her two best childhood girlfriends (Zoë Saldana and Taryn Manning). Along the way, she finds romance with the hunky ex-con (Anson Mount) who acts as the girls’ chauffer, raising the possibility that our perky heroine might lose her much-vaunted virginity. While Crossroads aspires to moments of straight-faced drama amid typical teen-comedy hijinks, it does provide its star with ample opportunities to appear in her underwear (once while dancing and lip-syncing to Madonna, no less!). Of course, Spears also does plenty of her own singing -- in one scene she lays waste to the competition in a karaoke bar contest, and later she triumphs at a Hollywood talent show. Crossroads is a Spears vehicle all the way -- sexy in a PG-13 sort of way and as streamlined as the vintage Buick convertible the girls travel across country in. Credit the talents of Saldana, Manning, and Mount, though, for helping to obscure this machine's various moving parts. They provide excellent support; and the catfights, sisterly bonding, and lustful moments that occur during the trip are convincing and effective. Add some big-sky scenery, and the result is a charming road film that's sure to please diehard Spears fans and perhaps even win her a few new ones.
Entertainment Weekly - Lisa Schwarzbaum
Britney has been delivered to the big screen safe and sound, the way we like our 20-year-old superstar girls to travel on the fame freeway.
Hollywood Reporter - David Hunter
Davis directs the low-budget production with economy and a lack of surface flashiness that is pleasingly unpretentious.

Not enough words can express how emotional this movie was, not only is britney spears a great singer but this movie proves that acting is another talent of her's and im not making such a big deal because her co stars make the movie even better. this movie is a must see it makes you laugh it makes you cry and it has a great moral, never give up on your dreams and sometimes dreams may change but friends are forever. this cast includes: anson mount-ben, zoe~ saldana-kit, taryn manning-mimi, britney spears-lucy waggner, & kim cattral-lucys mom, so bacicly crossroads is about three girls who couldnt be more different right? but as we learn, they used to be the best of friends, three little girls who buired a time capsule to dig it upon the night of there high school graduation. thats when the movie starts.it'll be the start of a whole new journey for them,in more ways than one.i guess the most important thing they learn is that it's not where you come from its wher your going.

I went and saw this movie in the theatre with a bunch of my gal pals and we loved it. It deals with real teenage issues and the plot is rather sweet. I think that everyone should just give Britney Spears a chance; she's not all that bad. Sure she may wear some skimpy clothes at times but so does every other girl in show business. If you haven't seen this movie yet don't listen to all the negative reviews it is a cute, fun, and upbeat film everyone must see it.

I absolutely hated this movie! It was the most annoying thing I have ever seen! I think Britney Spears is the prettiest thing in the world and she can dance too! But when it comes to singing OR acting, she's gotta go! This movie was so horribly written, directed and acted! The only person who I didn't mind looking at was the guy who went on the trip with them! Oh and what a stupid concept: If you really hate someone, you don't actually go on a trip with them!!!!!!

I thought it was a fun Movie and I liked it. It had me cryin', laughin', it was great! However the storyline was kinda dumb, the whole friendship thing they had going on didn't seem real. But overall coming from someone who isnt really a fan of Brit, I thought she did a good job for her first movie. Go watch it, you'll enjoy it!

let me just say that this must be one of the most amusing teen flicks i have ever come across. honestly, what could possibly be more hilarious than britney's romantic interest flouncing across the sand on the side of the road, all the while spewing angrily, ''Da! Da!'' i'm laughing just thinking about it. and the part where he stuck out his belly as they were having a ''romantic/sexual'' moment? pure genious. whoever came up with the idea for this movie needs a big pat on the back. i've never laughed harder.

my name is janielle and this movie was so great i took my 14 year old daughter and she wants a copy on dvd and vhs its such a great film with dreams and heart warmed friendships i really recommend you buy this movie and i know alot of you will say ''well it's probly not that good because britney spears is in it'' well its a perfectly genuine movie and britney spears adds the other 99% of greatness to this movie i know im buying it.

I hated this movie. I couldn't even watch it it was so boring. Briteny sang to much amd there was no real point to it besides them going to California with a guy they don't know. I also think Briteny didn't do that great of acting in it. But that's just my opinion.

The movie lacked a good plot, script, and really had no point to it. It just didn't hold my interest.

i've seen this film about 20 times. its the perfect family film to just sit down and relax and for tyhe best of friends to just chill. speaking of friends thats what the film is about three friends living there dreams and even if there dreams dont turn out right they know they well be friends forever.

I like Britney and all-but I didn't think she was going to be able to act-but she did a good job. The movie targets it's crowd- its a teenager movie-you can't expect much from it. But it was a cute movie. A cute movie to see with your girls.

Can't act! Awful movie! I don't know what movie all these other folks watched, but this is less than a 1 Star film!

this is a movie that i would tell myfriends about and let them be the judge if they like it or not.

For a movie that is totally predictable from beginning to end, this movie is not half bad at all. It really meets it's target audience. This movie deals with real issues without having the expected washed out feel that one might expect from a movie staring new talent. The acting was respectable, the plot enjoyable, and with the protagonists being two downright gorgeous people (Britney Spears and Anson Mount) there is really little room to falter. I attribute the movies poor showing in the theaters to people who don't understand that Britney might just have something to offer the movie biz. If you find yourself at home with the girlfriend with nothing to do, go out and rent it, or better yet buy it, it's really worth watching.
Guest More than 1 year ago
ok so we all know britney gets alot of flack for what she wears and what she says and what she doesnt say, but people she's not a little girl anymore you wont beleive all the bad reviews this movie got just because britney spears is in it. i think that people said all this stuff and didnt even see the film. it is one of the finnest film i have ever seen it brings out the ''end'' in ''friend''.

I wish people would stop saying Britney is a bad actress. In the movie Crosroads she proves acting is just one of her many talents. Crossroads has everything a good movie needs singing, dancing, fab acters and a lot of laughs. I highly recomend this movie to everyone.

I watched this movie a couple of hours ago and it took all I had just to stay awake through it. There obviously was NO acting talent in this movie, it was extremely corny, and why in the world did they call it ''Crossroads''? And also, did they really have to make Britney Spears sing that much? Every time a little music came on during the movie, all I thought was, ''Here we go again having to listen to Britney sing (like we don't hear her on the radio 20 times a day already).'' The only reason I wanted to see this movie was because I had watched ''A Walk To Remember'' not too long ago. And since that movie had a singer starring in it (Mandy Mooore) and it was actually a good movie, I thought ''Crossroads'' would be the same. I was very wrong. I totally recommend everybody NOT to see this movie. I do have to admit though, Anson Mount (Ben) is the only reason I watched the whole thing.
