Overview

Get ready for the adventures of the world’s most famous castaway with all 13 thrilling episodes of Crusoe on DVD! Loaded with action, exciting inventions, and romance, the ultimate battle for survival begins as Robinson Crusoe (Philip Winchester) sets sail for the New World. After a dangerous onboard attack, he finds himself stuck on a remote tropical island with only the assistance of native friend Friday (Tongai Arnold Chirisa) to help him prepare for his hopeful journey back home. Co-starring Sam Neill, it’s the spectacular series that Associated Press critic Frazier Moore described as one that "makes you a willing captive, whatever your age, giddy at its spectacle and adventure."

I bought this for Sam Niell and I was very pleasantly surprised with the quality of not only the acting, but the story-telling and visual presentation. Crusoe is packed with action and adventure, the best way I can think to describe it is to combine Indiana Jones, Pirates Of The Carribbean, and Lost. Truly fantastic!

This was a series I enjoyed but, due to time shifts and gaps in scheduling, I lost track of during it's limited run. Being able to watch the story develop in sequence, I found that it worked quite well as mini-series that had the potential for a sequel. The performers are engaging, the locale is gorgeous, sdmittedly the amount of traffic on a supposedly "deserted island" is mind boggling, but the show develops into a very satisfying buddy adventure. I found the back story engaging and a nice counterpoint to life on the island. It's just good fun. If you're looking for a substitute for reading the book, this isn't it.

I cannot remember the last time I had this much fun watching television. A lot of critics have said that the acting ruins it well..... the acting is not award worthy but it's not terrible Philip Winchester is "okay". I found Tongai Arnold Chirisa's performance very good. I think the best performances came from Sean Bean and Mia Maestro, The mutineers also were good.. I was fairly impressed with the score it wasn't bad but not incredible. Overall the show is very entertaining and enjoyable and I enjoy watching the complete series a couple times a year.
