I first got this DVD as a way to learn belly dance at home as I was not yet able to start taking classes, and some of the instructional videos my friend had given me were above beginner level, and therefor too hard for me. Even before taking classes I could tell that not all of the moves in this DVD are even from belly dance. That, and it does NOT teach you belly dance to begin with! It is a fitness DVD, pure and simple. Another issue I had with this one is that it was far too cheesy for me to even take seriously. If you want to learn belly dance, find other DVDs. I highly recommend Neena and Veena's DVDs, as well as Leila's Belly Dance for Beginners. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. I absolutely LOVED this video. I am not new to exercise and I can easily identify workouts that actually work and those that do not. Furthermore, I tend to do workouts called the Firm. I bought this DVD to change up my routine. Lemme tell ya - THIS WAS A GREAT PURCHASE! The exercises were very authentic-looking, upbeat, and they caused me to break a sweat, which is exactly what I wanted. And the best thing of all is that it was sooooo fun that I barely realized that I was exercising.
If you are looking for a fun way to get into shape, then buy this DVD plus several of the other related "Dance Off the Inches..." EXCEPT FOR the one that involves Strip Teasing. (It was not that engaging!)
