This wonderfully cast and acted miniseries chronicles the beyond unenviable job given to a young British officer, Lt. Brian Ash, of having to defuse and dispose of unexploded bombs dropped on English towns and cities by the Germans during WWII. The fuses and bombs advance in sophistication mechanically, and Ash's defusing methods have to somehow keep up with increasingly lethal technology, and many times the bombs go off regardless. The backdrop of this central struggle is the constant stressors placed not only on Ash, but on the enlisted personnel under him. Ash's unit was ultimately fighting as much of an unrelenting war of nerves as well as of potential bomb shrapnel. This is a drama that will consistently have viewers perched on the last micron of their chairs. It is recommended vigorously to all as a series of vignettes about a group of unsung, true heroes of Great Britain during WWII.

Thoroughly watchable series. The only thing wrong (in my opinion) is the lack of subtitles/captions. I enjoy British programming, but there are times when the accents are indecipherable.

These bombs were unexploded due mechical reasons or designed to explode up to several hours after impacting on the target.
