Overview

A genetically altered teenager named Max (Jessica Alba) escapes from the clutches of government scientists and lives amidst the Seattle underground in this six-disc collection which features the entire first season of the sci-fi action cult favorite Dark Angel. All of the episodes included have been transferred to disc in their original full-frame aspect ratio of 1.33:1, and the audio is mastered in Dolby Digital Surround. The episodes were originally in English, but in addition, alternate dubbed tracks in French and Spanish are included, as well as subtitles in English and Spanish. Four of the episodes include additional audio commentaries from members of the cast and crew, along with a handful of other bonus features -- three featurettes on the production of the series ("Genesis," "Creating An X-5," and "Seattle Ain't What It Used to Be"), a chapter of bloopers and outtakes, highlights from the cast auditions, and a preview of the video game based on the series.

Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble - Cree McCree
Though it only lasted two seasons, this small-screen venture by film director James Cameron (Terminator, Titanic) quickly became must-see TV for fans of postapocalyptic thrillers -- and of hot young sci-fi vixens. Series star Jessica Alba is part cat and all fox as the mutant Max Guevara, whose DNA was fused with feline genes in a covert federal lab. Like the rest of America's citzenry circa 2019, Max is in thrall to the Pulse, the electromagnetic aftereffect of a nuclear attack launched by terrorists a decade earlier. But the scrappy little thief snaps out of it. After Logan (Michael Weatherly) catches Max trying to burglarize his apartment, she joins the wealthy crusader on a mission to make their ugly world a better place. While the premise is hardly fresh -- Blade Runner is just one of several obvious sources -- Dark Angel updates its dystopia with inventive use of hip-hop music and street culture. In contrast to the ambience of Buffy's suburban Sunnydale, the urban, multiracial cast is refreshing. And it's no coincidence that Max's surname is Guevara. "Haven," which tracks the murder of political activists, is among several gritty episodes that target the military-industrial complex with a revolutionary fervor worthy of Che.

OMG! Ever since Dark Angel ended I have been waiting for someone to come out with the first season! This is awesome! It has completely made my day-no, my week!-that I have finally found out where to get the DA video set! I'm an extremely die-hard Dark Angel fan and when people ask me what my favorite show is I still say Dark Angel.I believe I will say that until they come out with a show that is better than DA which is gonna take a mind blowing cast and crew and special effects.Thank You SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much for letting me finally find the video set of the best show ever made!

What an amazing 1st season. Dark Angel with its superhot superhero Jessica Alba set the stage for the best show on TV. The covert nature of these genetically enhanced beings was exposed in season 2 which I believe damaged the show indefinitely. However, season 1 is a pure masterpiece.

I never got to see the complete season when Fox first aired it thanks to time slot agains Buffy and other problems, but am glad I'm now able to watch the entire season! It's definitely a better series than I originally thought! Yeah, some things are pretty predictable...but every once and while they throw you a curve that makes it forgiveable. Enjoy!
