Barnes & Noble - Ed Hulse
Delightfully clever, darkly humorous, and often unexpectedly moving, the second season of this acclaimed Showtime cable series continues to chronicle the unusual exploits of Georgia "George" Lass (Ellen Muth), an 18-year-old girl killed in a freak accident and recruited into the society of "Reapers," those ghostly entities entrusted with gathering the souls of newly deceased humans. Working for supervisor Rube (Mandy Patinkin) and interacting with fellow Reapers Mason (Callum Blue), Daisy (Laura Harris), and Roxy (Jasmine Guy), George learns a whole lot more about life and death than she ever contemplated. She also gets to keep an eye on her heartbroken mother (Cynthia Stevenson) and younger sister (Britt McKillip). The 15 episodes of the 2004 season are uniformly good, with some of the best appearing toward the tail end of the year. "Always" is a showcase for Patinkin, whose generally grumpy Rube reveals a tender side when he gets disquieting news and visits his earthbound daughter. "Forgot Me Not" puts George's new abilities to the test when she is detailed to convince an elderly woman that she has just died. But the year's best show has to be "Haunted," in which a serial killer stalks anxious residents of a neighborhood during a time in which Reapers are briefly visible to their loved ones. George hopes to reveal herself to her mom and sister, but she's kept busy gathering the souls of the killer's victims. Although extremely well written and acted, Dead Like Me gave up the ghost with Season 2, but this DVD collection is sure to keep it alive for the legions of fans appreciative of its unique perspective.

This is a HILARIOUS series that is very easily enjoyable. It is about a girl who gets hit in the head by a toilet seat broken from a space shuttle. She then becomes a grim reaper and takes souls for a living. But since she is a LIVE person to the living world, she must get a job to eat and sleep. It's great! Trust me. You won't be disappointed.

This is an absolutely great series! I hope completely that they won't stop making it! It will make you laugh over and over again! It's a comedy that you won't stop watching and hoping that won't end! You will love it.

With an amazing cast and creative plot, this is by far the best show to have ever been on television. The idea is so unique and meaningful. This show blends comedy with the dramatic reality of life and death. You couldn't ask for more. Watch it and you'll become attached to each character, especially George and her disfunctional family which she was forced to leave behind.

Quite unfortunately, SHO was stupid enough to cancel this show for a reality series. If you like Dark humour, (the Brits love it) creativity and stuff that makes you think instead of just being handed a standard show with the fill-in-the-blank plots, you will love this show. Not everyone's cup of tea, but those of us who have watched and loved it will greatly miss it. One of the best series ever because they weren't afraid to do things to the characters or with the characters that allowed them to grow and change. Truly a work of art. Very sad. Have cancelled SHO because of that.

I've been a fan since the previews on Showtime. I love this show. Ellen Muth is awesome. Mandy Patinkin steals the show!

I don't have a television because, by being patient, I can choose the best shows and have them on DVD—it ends up being cheaper than cable. This is one of those shows. Thoughtful and exciting ensemble work and writing. Unfortunately, it’s all too believable that a network could be so shortsighted as to cancel this series.

Beautiful show. I feel it needs to be publicisized more, but I can not get enough of it. It is like a drug, and I am addicted beyond intervention. It's privy, it's stylish, it is an all out slugfest of seriousness and, not to be too dramatic, amazingly fun.

Each episode has a plot to tug at your heart... it makes you think, sometimes cry. It teaches life lessons and gives one a better understanding and appreciation for the little things. Besides being one of the most touching series ive ever seen... its sarcastic witty humor can always stir a laugh. My whole family is know it was cut is a tragedy. Maybe if enough people share the perfection of this show, they will bring it back )
