Overview

A reform school girl attempting to turn her life around is drawn hopelessly back to the streets in this "Pinky Violence" classic starring Reiko Oshida. Rika (Oshida) is out on her own after an extended stint in reform school, but life on the streets isn't easy for a struggling young girl, and it's easy to fall back into old habits. These days the psychedelic movement has taken hold, and the hippies are singing songs about revolution. When Rika and some of her former reform school friends are brutalized by a group of notorious gangsters with a taste for hard cash and young women, the young girls use their female charm and their fierce fighting skills to take violent revenge.

All Movie Guide
Delinquent Girl Boss: Blossoming Night Dreams was the predecessor to Delinquent Girl Boss: Worthless To Confess and feels like a dry-run for what would be achieved in the latter film. Both films have essentially the same plot -- bad girl tries to go straight, ruthless criminals hamper her chances for success and she ends up taking revenge for friends harmed by the criminals. More importantly, both films feature Reiko Oshida as star and Kazuhiko Yamaguchi in the director's chair - they seem to be finding their way here. Oshida's charm is considerable but she hasn't quite nailed her "tough girl with a good heart" characterization yet. Yamaguchi directs with a nice sense of color and narrative economy but his blending of the genre's various elements isn't quite precise yet (there's a little too much goofball comedy between the more dramatic and exploitative moments). . Ultimately, Delinquent Girl Boss: Blossoming Night Dreams is a minor entry in the "pinky violence" genre and probably a little too rough around the edges for the casual viewer. That said, fans of Japanese exploitation fan will enjoy the plentiful action and energy on display.
