    Revelations Highlight this Moving Drama

Eric Roberts, Diane Lane and George C Scott are outstanding for their powerful well-rounded performances in this tale of a happy young couple whose relationship is eroded by revelations about her parents' past when Diane Lane's character brings her fiance home for the first time to meet her Romanian father played by George C Scott. Eric Roberts is extremely appealing as the fiance who is eager to be accepted into her family but cannot rest until he uncovers the truths about the past. Diane Lane is also wonderful as the bright but naive woman in love who has been leading a fairy tale life until this fateful visit to her family. Her transformation in the film is shattering as she tries in vain to deny and shut out the revelations in order to preserve her happy life. This is a disturbing but worthwhile film.
