Overview

As originally produced by and aired on the BBC in Britain, the 2009 series Desperate Romantics constitutes a period comedy-drama set in Industrial Revolution-era London circa 1851. In that milieu, four young and soon-to-be famous artists - determined painter William Holman Hunt (Rafe Spall), naïve illustrator John Millais (Samuel Barnett), prankish poet Dante Gabriel Rossetti (Aidan Turner) and inexperienced belletrist Fred Walters (Sam Crane) band together to form a group called the 'Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood,' and set about building a legacy for themselves as artistic immortals - a quest that carries them into some of the most beguiling (and occasionally humorous) corners of the Victorian realm. Soaking up romantic attention from all four is Lizzie Siddal (Amy Manson) an impossibly sexy young model. This set features all six Season One episodes as they originally aired on the BBC in July and August 2009.
