Overview

Dirk Bogarde was one of the finest screen actors in the history of film but he's no longer a household name (or even an art house name), so it's a very pleasant surprise that Anchor Bay Entertainment has released this DVD collection. The set contains The Mind Benders, The Servant, and Accident, three of Bogarde's most interesting movies from the 1960s, a time when he had graduated from romantic idol to highly respected leading man. Each film in this reasonably priced set has been beautifully digitally remastered and is featured in its original widescreen aspect ratio. The only real extras that come with each disc are the theatrical trailers; it's interesting to see how these daring and original films were marketed to general audiences at the time. Anchor Bay has made the three films on this DVD box set available separately, and while all are very good, The Servant is by far the best of the lot and is generally considered to be one of the best movies of the 1960s. The Mind Benders and Accident have long been out of print and Anchor Bay is to be commended for releasing such a fine set at such a low list price.
